A: Day One, Morning (Network)

[At first Al thinks he has passed out again, another blackout just when it was least convenient... but... this isn't the gate and his body is nowhere to be seen. Always when he passes out it's a bright white light, and then his body, this is nothing like that. There's a room, not a half translucent one, but a real and solid one. Trying not to panic (not entirely successfully), he focuses on the nearest and most immediate mystery - the weird device beeping at him and prompting him to enter a name for the network.

Network?

He doesn't recognise this in any way as some kind of phone device, it's nothing like the telephones in Amestris, the technology is far more advanced. But whatever this is, it says there are others - others who may know where he is and what's going on, who may have seen his brother - and all he has to do is input his name. Alas, tablets are not made with giant metal fingers in mind, so his input is not quite right through lack of experience and once it's in, it's not allowed to be changed.

The identifying name that flashes up when Al hesitantly addresses the network, a high child's voice against a totally blank screen, is "LELRIC".]

Hello? Can anybody hear me?

[He holds the tablet up to his ear as if it were a proper telephone, confusion half battling away fear for the moment.]

This, um... thing said other people were here to talk to. Please, if someone else is out there, say something.

[At a loss for what to say other than the basic cry for help, not even knowing if someone else is out there, he finishes up rather lamely with a long silence and then nothingness.]

B: Days and Nights One and Two (Network)

[The next broadcast from "LELRIC" doesn't appear until a few hours later. During this time Al has explored his own little house from top to bottom, examined the tablet, and struck out into the snow. So much of this makes no sense to him, and it would be a lie to say he wasn't frightened by what he's experiencing, but... but he's an Elric. He will take things as they come and move forwards until he finds explanations, reasons, and a way back to where he needs to go.

His voice is stronger the second time around, though it's edged underneath with a tension that can't be denied.]

This is Alphonse Elric sending out a message to anyone who can hear me. If there is anyone else nearby, or receiving the call from this-- uh, telephone-- then please respond. I have found food, and I am travelling through an unknown place covered in snow. I will send out this message every hour, and I will travel until I find familiar ground, other people, or until night falls.

[This isn't because he's frightened of the night, he doesn't know yet that he should be. It's for the simple reason that exploring an unknown place in the dark of night is foolish.

As good as his word, Al will broadcast this message every hour for the first two days, and for two hours after finding shelter at night, before ceasing and beginning again the next day.]

C: Day One (K2 - G2), Day Two (G2 - D2) (Action)

[The snow reminds him of Briggs, but he knows intrinsically that it isn't. The wooden buildings are different, the snow banks are different, and there's no massive fortress to be seen. Walking is hard going, his feet sink deeply with every step and make progress slow, but he has to keep going.

The strangest thing is... he almost feels like he can feel the cold.

He wants to shiver, he feels the bite of the ice against his metal body, and a growing pain in his stomach that he doesn't even associate with hunger after so long without. He knows this has to be in his mind, a cruel psychological trick brought on by stress, but the idea that he might even be able to pretend to feel cold captivates his mind and distracts him as he walks.

To anyone who either woke up anywhere between K2 and D2 on the map, or who have also gone wandering to try and find people, Al is available to be seen in the listed areas. He is extremely visible against the snow, as he is over seven feet tall and 'wearing' a suit of spiked armour.]

[ Everything is suspicious, by but she's searched the place and hasn't found any answers yet. She has to at least take a look at the tablet, and the network it connects to. She holds it like a video phone, frowning at the strange image on the screen. ]

[England knows immediately when he wakes that he is not where he's supposed to be. There's some drowsiness about him, but not the slogging, foggy throb characteristic of a hangover, so he didn't drunkenly wander anywhere. The wall isn't right. The bed feels different. He's got shoes on, for God's sake.

He bolts upright when the voice of the tablet cuts the air, whipping his head around to locate the source. It's...a tablet, apparently. But whatever it's saying isn't as interesting as figuring out where the hell he is, so he ignores it and has a look around the room. It's not one he recognises, not by a long shot. He realises, with creeping horror, that he can't tell what direction his nation is in, and has to swallow the prickle of fear he feels at the knowledge.

The tablet repeats its message. England regards it with suspicion for a rather long time, long enough for the message to repeat once more, before he dares to reach for it; though he worried about the possibility, the device doesn't immediately explode upon contact. It prompts him to pick a username, and he thinks on it for far too long before he finds himself browsing the tablet's applications under the network ID "SceptredIsle". He wants to be cautious about his identity here.

He eventually figures out how to make a text post on the network. It's not very long-winded, which is unusual for England, but he'd like to keep his cards close to his chest until he has a better idea of what's going on.]

Presuming there are truly other people connected to this network, I have a question.

[While England didn't particularly trust the tablet's warnings to get inside, it was also becoming extremely obvious that he couldn't continue to endure the elements under these conditions. If the tablet was leading him to danger inside the house, he'd take it over slowly freezing to death. It's not as if he wouldn't come back, being a nation and all.

[This was decidedly not where Helena had been. She had a feeling something wasn't quite right. Perhaps her senses as a former Warehouse Agent telling her this. After all, she'd had plenty of experience with strange happenings. And as far as she knew, she hadn't touched an Artifact that would've sent her to a completely different place of the planet.

No, that would be something Pete would do. Helena was careful. Which was why upon waking, she first took in her immediate surroundings before the tablet caught her attention. It didn't take her long before she registered herself on it, and found the network. And an apparent welcome but there seemed to be some error with it. However, she'd poke at that later if she felt like it. First was attempting to make contact with someone.]

[After searching the house she'd woken up in, Helena had struck out to see what was around her. That's when she found the convenience store. She didn't know what was stranger, the abandoned feeling of the place, the lack of electricity or the one machine that had electricity powering it. Or at least seemed to, anyway. When she speaks, there's an obvious English accent to her voice, an upper middle class one with very clear and pointed diction.]

I seem to have made a discovery. I located what seemed to have been a convenience store, and while there was no electricity, I found a machine, one of those movie rental type ones? It's working, apparently, and it gives out SD cards for the tablets. Not sure what that's supposed to mean, but it certainly sticks out.

Anyone else have any interesting discoveries like that?

[When he goes through the network posts and hears the first few syllables of the message, England almost drops the tablet. A mixed rush of both elation and panic washes through him; while it's a huge relief to hear something so familiar, it makes him ill to know that one of his citizens has been dragged into this strange situation, as well.

He debates on how to respond for a while, but eventually settles on voice so as not to seem untrustworthy. He sounds remarkably composed, but only because he took a few moments to simmer down.] Nothing as interesting as that, I'm afraid. We're blocked on a few sides by walls of snow, it seems, but I'm not yet certain as to how far they extend.

You were able to take some of the cards from the machine? [He assumes so, at least, or how else would she have discovered its operation and what it dispenses?]

[This is most certainly not Japan. And this is definitely not where Eiri had last found himself.

(Norfinbury, the tablet had said. It looks more like Russia outside to him. Is there a Norfinbury in Russia? Though it sounds more English. European? Does Norfinbury even exist? God, what he wouldn't give right now for computer access to search the Church's files.)

But more importantly, he had left Haku behind at the second Haku needed him most. And though he can't do much of anything about that disaster right now, it still gnaws away at his heart. Fear. Guilt. A thousand other unnamed feelings swirling around his small body.

Haku, hold on. Please, please, hold on.

But sitting around and worrying over something potentially a world away (that doesn't even make any sense) isn't going to solve anything, so he starts his search of the house in which he had found himself. In the meantime, he turns on the tablet and addresses the network. Hey, apparently there are other people around and though he's more than capable of acting on his own, gathering information would hardly go amiss.]

Where is Norfinbury located? It's not a city name I recognize.

[He notices that his voice is a little scratchy. Had he been yelling that much at Haku?]

If anyone has any information on how we got here, as well, then spit it out. We don't have time for games.

[He doesn't voice it, and he barely even lets himself think it, but a part of Eiri almost hopes that Haku has found his way in this place, too. At least that way he'd be less worried about him.]


Night (text)

[The day had yielded less than favorable search results, but a few things are better than nothing, so Eiri can't consider it a total loss. And with the door to his house (his? it's not his, he never lived here, he's just squatting) locked, he has no real other choice than to try and sleep, though it's difficult with the blustering cold seeping in through every available pore.

As well ass the footsteps he can clearly hear above him. From the attic. But it was caved in, there shouldn't be anyone up there at all!

Ugh, he does not have time for this.]

I can hear you up there!

[His voice carries easily in the empty house and so he's sure anyone in the attic would be able to hear him.

And yet the footsteps continue going about their business.

[Now that night has fallen, and Al has explored the house he has ended up sheltering in, it was only natural that his attention returns to the strange new communication device. At first when the words appeared on the screen, he thought it was talking to him itself, only realising it must be another lost person like him after a couple of seconds of shock.

He tries to figure out how to reply using text, but that's beyond him right now, so he responds using the voice command he's at least semi-mastered during the day.]

I don't think you should be threatening anyone in the house with you, it's probably someone else lost and confused like us.

[It is through pure luck Zelda manages to navigate her way to the network. If the tablet hadn't been so insistent on being 'registered', she might not have even bothered with it at all. Perhaps on a good day, she would be genuinely curious about the strange little slab that is unlike anything she's ever seen before, but this is not a good day.

She has no idea where she is, and she cannot feel the Triforce of Wisdom.

The tablet prompts her for a username, and, ignorant of it's purpose and desperate for answers, Zelda selects the default option. A few moments of semi-random button pressing later, she comes across... this. Even with her complete lack of experience with modern technology, she can tell that this is not the writing of something that is at all sane. Eventually, a video feed of a young blonde woman with long, pointed ears pops up in response to the admin message.]

Who is this? [She demands. Her voice, carrying the slight tremble of someone who is frightened but doing her damnedest not to let it show, echos a bit off of the walls of the entirely empty room she's found herself in.] Where have you taken me? What have you done to my magic?

[A pause, her voice quieting a bit as righteous anger loses its steam and confusion takes its place. Her eyes glance about the screen, clearly looking more at the tablet itself than anything it's depicting in that moment.]

B. Day 001, Afternoon, video
[At first, it seems like someone has created an audio log, with nothing but a black screen being displayed over the sound of footsteps crunching snow and little else. Someone still isn't quite sure how the network works, and might have left it on as she explores, but stick around long enough, and eventually Zelda speaks up.]

It is... like a battlefield, almost...

Ah, can I--

[The tablet is tilted up, revealing her face; turns out she had the thing held to her chest all this time. She stares at the screen for a moment before flipping the device around, revealing the large piles of rubble she's been traversing.

It reminds her too much of Castle Town, ruined and quiet aside from the moans of the redeads who populated it in the wake of Ganondorf's rise to power. She speaks up again in order to focus on something else than memories that won't help her now, though she can't quite keep her teeth from chattering from the cold.]

Okay snowy wonderland and also the doors lock really well at a certain time. Seems like a mystery. Has anyone found anything about why we're here? Also does this place just seem....weird? I know stupid question considering we've been kidnapped but this place is....creepy seems the best word for it. I want to know what happened to the people here but I have a feeling I'm not going to like the answers.

[Clementine is on her feet seconds after waking up, instinct kicking in; she doesn't usually sleep deeply, and the change in scenery is confusing. She needn't worry about walkers or strangers, apparently. The fact that there's no gun lying next to her, or baby bundled up nearby though. That's even more distressing that the new surroundings and the ominous message beeping from nearby.

Clementine doesn't go to the device immediately, preferring to explore the house a little first. She doesn't look very hard for very long, however, and soon she's kneeling by the weird phone that's still asking for her attention.

Apparently other people have woken up confused too, which doesn't help Clementine's uncertainty.]

[Travelling through the snow all day doesn't really make Clementine feel any better, just more confused. She's not a stranger to travelling by herself; even cold weather like this is sort of familiar.

[He was going to the store.]

[Was he? Waking up in this strange, dark, cold little cabin, still in his pajamas and with no memory of how he got here, Clayton is almost tempted to call the previous morning's activities a dream. It wouldn't be the first time he's woken up in a strange house with the lingering images of a vivid dream and a hazy recollection of how he got there. Sometimes he'll even wake up to someone's alarm.]

[That's what he assumes the tablet is. With a groan of protest, Clayton reaches to the nightstand and slaps around until he finds something suitably large. The tablet notes his touch and moves along to the registration process. As it's shut up, Clayton decides to try and fall back asleep.]

[About two minutes later, he realizes how strange this situation is.]

[After some semi-serious, semi-frantic searching around the house and calling to the invisible owner of the home (alternating "hello" and "your tablet's going off"), Clayton returns to the master bedroom completely stumped. It looks like it's snowing out of the foggy windows. Awfully early for snow. Impulsively Clayton reaches for his phone to check the weather, only to realize that he doesn't have any mobile service. Where is this? The sticks?]

[There's a balcony connected to the bedroom--maybe that will give him a better view of the area, or some kind of identifying marker other than "Norfinbury." He wanders out]

[and immediately goes for the tablet. It said something about a "network," didn't it? There must be people on here...Clayton flashes through the setup, enters a junk name that he uses on forums, and after briefly skimming what looks like a social networking site, starts looking around for a video app. Of course there is one.]

[Posted to the network is about forty-five seconds of recorded footage. It begins facing up at the roof, then the tablet is picked up and held out to show Clayton's nervous, smiling face. He's smiling because he's on video. It's an impulse thing.]

Hey! [Clayton gives a small wave.] Clayton Epps. Now I know this is kinda weird, but my phone ain't workin' and...I'm not sure what else to do.

[He shrugs, then stands up from the bed and spins the tablet around. The closed doors to the balcony are ahead. Clayton keeps up a running commentary from behind.]

So I woke up here 'bout...thirty minutes ago? I dunno, the clock's all wrong. [The ensemble stops in front of the doors. Clayton's other hand appears from underneath to open them.] Only looked over things once. Anyone else's phones and stuff actin' up like this? It's real weird. [The door pops open.] --Alright, alright, now look at this.

[He steps out onto the balcony. From the second floor, Clayton's cabin has a view of absolutely jack shit. This is remarkable to him. It's all white, for what looks like miles, with decent enough cloud-cover and snowfall to shield the horizon. After about ten seconds of panning around, the camera focuses on a small, black blip in the far distance. Clayton would place this as the southwest if he had a compass to work with.]

[This goes on for a few more seconds; then Clayton makes an uncomfortable noise and hurries back inside, closing the doors behind him. When he turns the tablet around again, he's noticeably shivering and trying to warm up his arm with vigorous strokes of his free hand.]

Everyone else's view look somethin' like that, or am I alone here?

B - Morning -> Late Afternoon - Action, blocks U4, U5 and V4

[There's no way Clayton can make it to that dot in the distance, not without warmer clothes and some shoes, but his current location proves disappointing in terms of provisions. A full house but barely any belongings, a cute mug but no running water, a grand fireplace but no wood...that bottle in his backpack is only going to last him so long, and without a way to melt a lot of snow at once, dehydration is a real danger so far out from civilization. He needs to do some searching.]

[First he looks around his immediate area. Only rubble here, a spare plank of wood...that's promising enough to make him wonder if his eyes are deceiving him and he can actually get to that far-off landmark. He heads south into more snow.]

[Shortly thereafter, he turns back. His socks are getting very wet and starting to seep into his sweatpants. He's going to lose his feet like this. Clayton spends as much time as he can in the southern block, hoping to find more goodies in the scattered piles of junk, but he can't take the risk and go out further. He returns home and sticks around to try and dry off his socks.]

[Later in the day, feeling desperate and lonely, he tries going east instead. There's more rubble here, but Clayton's toes are dangerously numb; he spends even less time looking through this place before turning back and retiring for the evening.]

[Certain exceptions are made, of course, if he finds another face to talk to.]

C - Early Evening - Network, Text

[It's very quiet around here.]

[Only one day of the cold and nothing but the wind pounding at the windows, and already Clayton is miserable. He hates being pinned in like this. He hates it even more when night falls and the paranoia sets in. He's too anxious to sleep, both from prevailing loneliness and the feeling that this house, large and empty as it is, is containing him. Like he's trapped in a tin can and slowly being squeezed.]

[He's already discovered that he can't meditate, so trying to reach out mentally is out of the question. He's played too many games on his phone and the battery has run out, which he was afraid of. The tablet, which he's been carefully preserving to avoid the same fate, seems not to have lost any power at all. How strange.]

[This, at least, gives Clayton the boldness to find distraction through the network instead.]

Clayton again. Is everyone still here? Did anyone find anything new?

Nothing good here. Lots of snow. Can't travel far. At least there's a roof over my head and somewhere comfortable to sleep.

[He didn't even know what to do with this thing at first, and, being so cold, he only gave its screen a cursory examination before looking for something to more adequately clothe himself with. He spent a while calling out for the Archangels, particularly Lucifel, and for someone named Ishtar as he searched, but as the day wore on, he found himself simply calling out for anyone.

He had spent hundreds of years in the company of someone else. He had never been truly alone in his life, and it was stifling, more chilling than the environment he stepped gingerly through, his sandals useless to him in the snow. He didn't stay out long, returning to the house he started out in and nursing feeling back into his feet as he examined the device he'd woken up with, finding the assistant quickly and from there, everything else followed.

Except nothing had ever prepared him for something like this, and like many others, he had no idea how to properly parse this.]

[Stiles wakes up and it's a good thing the tablet isn't on a table, because otherwise it, along with the beeping, would find itself crashing on the floor. As it is, Stiles' hand that swipes at the table only meets air, and right, so it's not his alarm clock-- and wait, this isn't his house. Or his bed.

Not that that would make much sense, either, because he's pretty damn sure he was at the school and not in a weird room he doesn't recognize at all. It only takes him a few minutes to push himself up (or more like bolt upright and stumble out of the bed and then out of the room) and start to look around the house-- the kitchen and the dining room, small as they are, are also.... snowed-in, okay, that explains why he thought it was a bit cold around here. So not just lack of heating, then.

As soon as he's certain he's entirely alone, and in a place that's not familiar... well, there's not much else to do than pick up the tablet. A network username, huh? Something that's recognizable if there's anyone he knows, here... but something that isn't too obvious. So not Stilinski. ... wait, he's cold. Like, really, freezing cold.

With a quick grin to himself, he types in Chillinski (get it? chilled stilinski? yeah okay maybe it's a stupid pun, but at least nobody's around to judge him) and starts writing a message.]

So, anyone managed to find any sort of wood today? Actual logs in any of the houses, or wooden furniture you could break and burn? Because I found a fireplace.

[A pause as Stiles scratches his chin, bites his lower lip. Talking to people you don't know like this is slightly awkward.] Also, any word on anything important yet? As in... who's behind this? Because I am so not buying this whole "oh we just all woke up here" thing. Somebody's lying around here, and I'm not gonna wait around for someone else to find that out.

( when Hook wakes, he knows he's not where he's meant to be. the last thing he can recollect is tossing a magic bean and sailing his jewel into the eye of a portal. he'd been burned by a portal before, but never quite so badly. he'd been thinking of Neverland, he knew the place well enough that there was no doubt in his mind that was where they should have been headed. instead he's here, in a strange house, freezing his balls off, and he's far from pleased about it.

the tablet catches his attention because it's hard for it not to. it flashes so loudly and demands his attention, and whether he knows what it is or not, it draws his attention. Touch to register me now. he does and befuddedly identifies himself, though he's not sure why. the network post just earns a face, and none of this makes a particular amount of sense. what brought him here, why is he surrounded by a weeks worth of food, why is he not where he's supposed to be, and most importantly, why is it so bloody cold?

it's only other people seemingly communicating — or little magical lines of text, appearing from nowhere — that keep him from putting the thing down entirely. he does not seem to be the only one confused or lost (though he very well might be the only one that doesn't know how to run a tablet), and communication seems important.

( he was only willing to spend so much time tip-tapping at a tablet. that meant he needed to get out and explore. there were other people just as trapped as he, and there was a slight hope that he might spot one of them. or just find something in all the snow and the cold. he put on his glove, fixed up his shirt and buttoned his coat, and braved the elements.

the idea was to head north, hope to find something of note. there was no luck on that front, really. he'd seen a few houses and looked through a few things, knocked on doors hoping for some aide but couldn't find any human life other than his own. going too far north had just resulted in him hitting a wall, literally. it was like a sea of snow, it didn't seem natural; hooking at it didn't seem to do any good and by that point he was too bloody cold to argue with it. he'd forced his way back where he'd come from, at least hoping for the shelter of the bedroom upstairs. exploring on the way back he acquired a bat, it was better than nothing seeing his sword had somehow disappeared in the fray. he'd been sniffing around the first location he landed in when he heard the door audibly lock, trapping him in.

rather alarming. there was no getting out of it, and trust he'd tried. he'd given up sooner rather than later, trying to explore the rest of the bloody sink hole he was trapped in. the flooded basement probably didn't need his searching, but what else was he going to do?

not freeze, maybe, but he took off his coat and dove in anyway.

now, he's trying to warm himself, disheartened by what he's found. at least the bat was practical, he doesn't know what to make out of the signs or the little pills in the box he's found. he's figured out the video function, after some futzing; it's easier for him than typing, and besides. he wants to show his findings, see if someone else has any idea what they are. the camerawork isnT the best, and he can't use it gracefully, having to hold it with one (shaking) hand.

the picture is clear enough, though; a small box with foam-like padding, two pills inset, and an odd, small, red bit of plastic to go with. )

[George has been wandering around half the day already only to find rubble, a bunch of broken up houses and a pile of crappy rusted nails. He's got one board and some broom straw to his name when it comes to the chance of a fire. His irritation has only escalated. The hangover isn't helping.]

This is some kinda bullshit. Ya know, I done heard a' some keen pranks played on fellas a few sheets to the wind. Mighta done it myself once or twice. This? This is takin' it way too far.

Norfinbury. What kind a' off the cob name is that anyway? Know what I've found in Nor-fin-bur-y?

[He's careful to articulate every syllable. His voice goes flat with disgust.]

Squat.

2: Day 2, Action, Open to anyone in P-N 7, and ending in location 100

After a very restless night in the creepy house where he woke up, George was determined not to spend another night there if he could help it. He was half convinced there were people there all night, hiding from him in the darkness and walking circles around him while he looked for them. He figured he'd just about prefer to freeze to death than go through that twice, so he packed up everything he had and started off in a westerly direction through the snow. His last foray north the day before had taken him into a barren area he saw no good reason to revisit.

For someone who had no idea where he was going, he walked with purpose. He knew the best way to keep from freezing was to keep moving. If he came across anything of interest, he'd pause to investigate. Otherwise, he kept a steady pace.

Well before nightfall, he came across a two-story house. (House 100) With no other shelter easily in sight, he decided it was as good a place as any to bunk down. After his experiences the night before, he approached it with caution. Maybe by daylight he could find the hiding places of any intruders and get the jump on them. All he had was part of a two-by-four to fight with. It'd have to do.

For the second evening in a row, before the sun had set, Clementine was heading back inside the house she'd woken up in. She'd walked south this time, though not too far, stopping only to search through anything that looked interesting. Finding another place to sleep had crossed her mind, but this house was fairly comfortable - more comfortable than anywhere she'd stayed at for a long time. And miraculously there were no walkers about. She didn't want to push her luck for too long, but for now it seemed like a good place for rest.

It wasn't long after she'd gotten back inside the house though, that Clementine realised something wasn't quite right. Footprints from the snow that weren't her own, and the sound of someone moving from further inside the house. She halted, frowning and listening intently for a few moments.

"Is someone here?" she called eventually.

Clementine longed for her gun. But not having something to hurt this stranger - or walker - with, she was quick and knew how to use her surroundings to her advantage. It was for that reason she didn't immediately turn around. Besides which, there was a chance there was someone friendly inside, someone who had supplies. Clementine couldn't miss that chance.

Day 001. Morning. Voice Post.

[ Fenris' first morning in Norfinbury does not go very well for the house he wakes in or for Fenris himself. Somehow, perhaps due to the intercession of the Maker, he manages not to break the possessed... whatever it is that continues to speak to him through the worst of his rage, saying the same nonsensical thing over and over. He doesn't know where Norfinbury is or what half of the things are in the house, but he's certain there is magic and mages involved. It's the only explanation for why he isn't in Weisshaupt where he expects to be.
 
And there's a spirit in the vaguely mirror-like object that refuses to shut up.
 
When he finally deigns to speak with the spirit, an argument ensues. It refuses to tell him what's going on or why he's been brought here. Throwing the object against the wall neither breaks it nor intimidates the spirit into cooperation. Eventually, after another wasted hour, he and the spirit reach a tentative truce: it gets "registered" like it wants, manifests itself as an eye that reminds him vaguely of the Inquisition, and through some strange magic he's never encountered before, puts him in contact with other people. Fenris assumes they're people. They sound as confused, and in some cases as irritated, as he is. 
 
Of course, it's possible that they're just more spirits trapped in the object. At this point, he's unwilling to make a solid judgment.
 
With the spirit's help, and a minor frustrating argument to gain its cooperation first, he attempts to speak with them. It feels strange, speaking at a slab of odd material, but the spirit tells him to speak, so he does. ]

 I have been directed to speak with you. [ He sounds disgruntled and not entirely convinced this attempt is going to work. ] Are you trapped in this strange mirror? [ A faint tapping sound follows the question, as he taps his armored finger against the surface of the device. ] Is that why I'm here? To free you?

[ From the skeptism in his voice, he thinks he was a terrible choice and intends to make whomever was stupid enough to abduct him agree. ]

[ While Hawke wouldn't claim mastery of the magic slab, he's becoming slightly more proficient in using it. Sort of. (He'd say he is, anyway, regardless.) At the very least, he's figured out the difference in sending written messages, verbal ones, and ones with moving pictures. Those, he thinks, are the best of the options. With the discovery comes, of course, thinky thoughts about people who aren't here and how much they'd enjoy something like this. At least, should it turn out to not be possessed by some ancient spirit and run on blood magic.

Throughout the day, he checks things, fiddles with it, drops it accidentally a few times. He's more fascinated with it than he rightfully should be. There's plenty of shoulds he should be doing, but he's not. He's hanging around a creepy puzzle house not doing much of anything just yet.

The fourth time he drops the magic tablet is when he hears a familiar voice coming from it. It bounces off his boot and skids across the floor, knocking into an end table. Part of him doesn't want to believe it's true—if he's gotten himself trapped here, he doesn't want anyone else to suffer the same consequences. If he's actually stuck in the Fade like he believes he might be, then he has to wonder if it's just a demon trying to taunt him.

If it is, he'll rip it apart with his bare hands. There are just some things he won't tolerate.

Hawke crosses to the tablet, picks it up and taps the button for video. If this is truly his Fenris, he wants him to see. ]

Fenris. [ Hawke isn't one to hesitate in the face of anything, yet there's a tightness in his chest, a rasp to his tone that speaks of skittish hope. ] You're here?

[ So. This definitely wasn't Weisshaupt. And, for what it's worth, Hawke is nearly one hundred and ten percent certain this isn't the Anderfels—much too cold. Or any part he knows of Thedas. For an instant he feels a pinch in his chest, wondering if maybe he'd actually never left the Fade at all. Maybe he'd been the one to stay behind instead of Stroud and that Nightmare killed him and here he is... stuck in some other nightmare for the rest of his afterlife.

He heaves a heavy sigh, casting a glance around at the new mess he's gotten himself into. Well. At least there aren't any spiders.

A thorough investigation of the house warrants someone's vested interest in puzzles. Sort of creepy, though Hawken can't pinpoint why. He contemplates scooping one up to do later. Hey, if he doesn't know how long he's going to be trapped here, he might as well keep some entertainment.

Eventually he comes back to the light box with words on it. He's never seen anything like it before and wonders what sort of magic makes it work. Glancing around like someone might be watching and tell him not to, he picks it up half expecting to hear someone tell him not to. He waits with held breath, but... nothing happens. Besides asking to register a name so he can use it.

This takes him longer than necessary. He could use his name, logic tells him to. But, logic also tells him not to give it all away so quick, maybe have a little fun with it. So, he does. And he's satisfied, if not still confused over the whole thing. ]

A bit fun, isn't it? This thing. Never seen one before in my life. If people can really communicate over them, I imagine it renders messenger birds inert. Though, those are more exciting. Never quite know when one is going to bite you or shit on your boots.

Hopefully this one doesn't.

[ Yesterday he had been willing to entertain the idea of being here and figuring out the puzzle (eh??? he thought it was tongue-in-cheek—wind up in a house full of unfinished puzzles, finish one and get the clue to get the hell out of here. Didn't quite work that way, though.) to be on his merry way. But, whomever has gotten him here seems too intent to keep him.

He doesn't like that.

An uncomfortable feeling begins to wrap around his bones and he doesn't like it. At all. A wave of nausea hits him every so often, but he refuses to acknowledge it at all and tells himself it's nothing more than a trick of his own mind. Most of the day is spent nearby the house he arrived in—just in case. Tomorrow he decides to unleash a plan and hit the ground running. Staying in one place makes him easier to find, true, but maybe there's something lurking out there that he doesn't want to be found by.

Night falls and he's once more locked into the puzzle house. He isn't well, but he fights it. It only lends further to the idea that maybe he still is within the Fade. The tablet is drawn closer and he turns it on, foregoing keeping to text as he's not the energy to mash buttons; video it is. ]

Well, whomever arranged this excursion certainly likes the sense of [ his voice is purposely set to match: ] doom and gloom and despair. [ his voice returns to normal as he tilts his head slightly in thought. ] Orlesian, I bet.

[ Hawke falls silent for a few beats, looking at something off screen and it's followed by a frown before he looks back. He'd never come right out and say he'd like company or that he'd like to hear a voice besides his own, so. Roundabout it is. ]

This would be more interesting with a pint of ale and a deck of cards, but, who's got a story to tell? Preferably one without snow.

[ Tim isn't taking this situation very well. He's been through more than his fair share of weirdness - this is far from the first time he's woken up in a strange place with no memory of how he got there - but this is different.

He's not even sure that it's real. He's pretty sure it can't be real. It's all in his head, whether because he's crazy or because that thing has been messing with his mind again. His hallucinations and such don't usually come with a bunch of people chatting to each other on smartphones, but there's a first time for everything.

Waking up in a strange place had been no fun, but it wasn't as though Martha wasn't used to it. What was frustrating was she couldn't find an apparent way out. Her mobile had no service, and the cold was quickly eating up battery. She turned it off and instead turned her attention to the obnoxious device welcoming her to Norfinbury. She registered with a simple user ID and used it to make a network call.

The rest of her day was spent either answering people who responded to her, searching various squares, and otherwise responding to other people. She was also keeping a mental track of who was calling, intending to take some time to write it down, whether through the note app she'd found here or somewhere else.

[Bard's first assumption is dark magic: much of what he recognizes in the house he wakes in is of a quality he's never even imagined, but it's clearly not of Dale nor of any place he might be brought to in the few hours he believes he was asleep. Then, of course, there's the rectangle like a mirror that insists he touch the glass to register it; that goes straight into the pack he finds to be dealt with later, thoroughly inexplicable but too strange to abandon.

When he finally gets back to it late in the day, he becomes more certain: he learned the language of Dale from his parents and everyone in Lake-town uses Westron, so he's used to alternating every so often, but the words and voices that come from the network are neither. How can he understand them, if not through magic?

He decides to pose his own question, giving the network a name that isn't false but also isn't the proper one (you must be careful of your name when magic is afoot) and then, okay, getting distracted for a few minutes playing with the keyboard. But then! Once he's figured out how to delete characters and create spaces between words and all that useful shit, he wades into interacting with these supposed other people.]

Does anyone know how to knit? I've found supplies but lack the skill myself.

[ Sluggish and dazed, Touka knew something was wrong even before her eyes opened. There was something uncharacteristically heavy about her body, and when she sat up, she found herself in a very unfamiliar bed in an equally unfamiliar room. The incessant beeping coming from her left certainly didn't help matters, either, and she groaned in irritation as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed.

Once the bleariness of sleep began to gradually dissipate, alarm began to set in in its stead. She didn't recognize anything about her surroundings, and that damn beeping was driving her half-insane. Reaching for its source, she was surprised to find what appeared to be a tablet, which prompted her to create an ID in order to connect to some sort of network.

As a very literally cold sense of fear began to grip her, Touka decided to send a message out into the ether, her fingers dancing across the glassy surface of the device. ]

[Neku hardly fancies himself a leader. He's never lead a group, only one or two people, but that didn't mean he could lead. But still, someone had to be the voice of common sense. Not everyone might think of necessary things like that. He doesn't know anyone that had got in touch with him yet, but all of them had been thrown into this by the same thing. They're all in this together, just like in the Game. He may not have a partner here, but... if he can help someone that needs it, it'll be good enough.

He won't travel far today. Just a couple of blocks away, maybe, looking through houses as he goes. It's still daylight, so he figures he has enough time to look. Wherever he is when it starts getting dark, he'll stop there and stay the night.]

it takes him a while to understand the tablet, and after much tapping and confusion, the feed flickers on, showing the username BAE. the video is a little unfocused at first, but finally the screen reveals the face of a young boy, not looking quite as scared as he should, but it's probably only because he's good at hiding it. ]

Is this thing actually working? I've never seen anything like this before. [ is it some dark magic device? he's not sure, but he's quite skeptical of it, holding it too far away from his face, the audio a little tinny. ]

[So. A quick glance out the windows and the world has totally ended. That's totally awesome. You would think when you watch someone prevent the end of the world, you don't turn around a few months later and see it end yet again. Shaun almost wished he could blame it on Abstergo, but even Templars didn't derive any benefit from wasteland winter. At least not when they didn't seem to have any institutions trading clothes and food for undying loyalty. Or something.

He avails himself of his surroundings, but an Assassin's death trap is rushing into enemy territory with no information, or without a high vantage point and a pointy knife. Given the errors he doubt the network or the tablet's technology is very secure-- but it'll have to do for now.

At least availing himself of the network assures that he's not alone in this... wherever they are.]

I know they say a stopped clock is right twice a day, but I hadn't imagined that would apply to misinterpreted Mayan calendars. Nor that an apocalypse would involve more snow and less solar flare and world on fire. You learn something new every day.

In case anyone was wondering, there is no major city or region by the name of "Norfinbury" in continental North America, nor the Eursasian subcontinent. It's possible that we could be elsewhere, but I can't imagine a precinct in Japan or Africa being named "Norfinbury." That's just silly. Then again I also can't remember being dropped in the middle of what looks like Siberia (or making a rather good imitation of it), so what do I know?

Where is everyone out there? It would be best to pool our information to try and get some grasp on the state of our situation and our surroundings; especially since, as I take it from the confusion, none of us are locals. If you're feeling particularly vulnerable about your new snowflake overlords, then I'm sure we can also arrange a support group for you.
