No, I don't remember how I got here, sorry.

[Sadly, lengthy blackouts where his soul is tugged away from his imperfect body, where he's moved before he comes around, are becoming more and more frequent these days.]

And I guess I don't know for sure that we're near to one another, but it seems to make sense. We've both been brought to somewhere we don't recognise, for reasons we don't know, and put in contact with each other, that suggests a connection. Combined with the similar environment we both see of snow, ice, and mostly broken buildings, I think it's probable that we're relatively close.

[Or perhaps that's only wishful thinking, a streak of foolish optimism.]

Looking around is a good idea, but maybe we should pick a direction by the sun, say west, and both walk that way. Maybe eventually we'll cross paths doing that?

Maybe. Does at least seem like we're in the same sorta place. Bigger'n any ghost town I ever seen.

Or we'd never run into each other 'cause we're goin' the same direction 'n one a' us is ahead a' the other. Not tryin' to rain on your parade none. Jes' don't think they's any good way of findin' anybody that ain't pure chance. If we was close, we'd see each other easy in all this snow.

That might be a danger at first, but if there are enough of us moving west, then eventually we'll come across a landmark to tell everyone to make for, or find evidence of each other passing the same way. As long as we can keep in contact with these strange telephones, then we should be able to coordinate to minimise the risk of missing each other that way.

[His voice gets a little higher, a little more child-like, in his enthusiasm. This is a horrible and confusing situation, but Al can't be kept down for too long. Now he has an idea of how to move forwards, even in a tiny way, he feels a lot more confident.]

Maybe while we're moving we'll find them too, or at least find a clue as to why so many people seem to have woken up here with no memory of being moved.
