It's a machine. Like...shit, like a clock, or a telephone. Jes' some thing that works with gears an' crap like that. I ain't no engineer, and they don't have none a' these back home where I'm from. All we got are phones.

A guy explained it to me earlier. A little bit. Any a' that make a lick a' sense to you?

Gears... [ A slight pause. ] So it is a dwarven device of some kind.

I have not heard of telephones, but there are many strange things dwarves make that I cannot explain or have had cause to understand.

I assume it is enchanted, then?

Dwarves... You mean midgets? The only midgets I seen were in the circus side-show. Far's I know they didn't make nothin'.

I don't think it's enchanted. I ain't completely sure what you mean by that. Like magic or somethin'? Ain't magic for damn sure.
