A pair of needles, a ball of yarn, and a few blankets and things I suppose might be unraveled if anyone needs a hat or gloves.

[Technically it was two balls of yarn, but as Bard's already consigned one to fulfill all his tying-things-together needs, there's really no point in including it. Now why is this person's network name ringing a bell...?

Oh. Right. One of the children who've wound up here. It twists Bard's heart a little, making him wonder if his own are here somewhere and not entirely sure whether he'd want them to be if the only alternative is home. He'd thought to keep his distance for the time being, let the others here handle the children as they seemed so willing to do, but he can't just not answer, can he?]

That will be very helpful, though I think not just yet. For now we shall leave everything as it is, in case someone comes to this house after me who could use something in its current state more than a pair of gloves or a great deal of yarn. Can I count on you to be ready when that changes?

[Even children like to feel useful, at least in Bard's experience, but everything he's just written has the added benefit of being true. Hopefully the boy will focus on that more than on the "not yet".]
