Test Subject #1 | "Melanie"
[Melanie has been putting this off for a few days - to think, to read, and then to think some more. But she can't put it off forever, and so here she is, sitting in front of her tablet with the camera pointed at her. She's wearing her plain white dress from home, and has a warm-looking cloak around her shoulders. It's fastened by a brooch at the neck, and on that brooch is the prophet symbol.]

Hello.

[She twists her fingers together nervously.]

I'm Pandora. My real name is Melanie, but people call me Pandora here, and that's the name I chose.

[Deep breath.]

I'm dangerous. Sometimes I try to eat people, and I don't really want to, but I can't help it. I'm small, but I'm quick, and I can hurt an adult if I take them by surprise. I stay in house fifty-five on House's map most of the time, and I think it's better for me to try to stay in one place, so that it's easier for everyone to stay away from me.

[This is easier than she'd worried it would be, and so when she continues, her voice sounds more confident.]

Clint says that I sound like a zombie, but that I can learn not to be. I'd like to try, but I don't know how to do that yet, and until I do, you all need to be very careful. Where I come from, people have guns, and I think one of the reasons they have them is for me and the other kids like me. If you have a gun or any other weapon, you should keep it pointed at me if you're near me. I also think that I should be in the guide, on the list of dangerous people, so that new people know.

[And that's it for that, at least for now. But she does have one more thing to say. She smooths her hands over the cloak around her shoulders]

When we were in the white halls, I found this. It has the prophet's symbol on it, and I think it might be a clue. If I need to, I can carry it somewhere, even if that means leaving my house.

Hey.

[Cassel gives his tablet an exaggerated wave.]

So I was talking to Winter earlier, and she agreed to make an app for me. Whatever it is will interface with the technology around town wirelessly, or so she says, so we can use it on the servers in town hall. You know, assuming we ever get there. Anyway, she didn't actually give it to me yet, but I'll keep you all updated.

[A shining beacon of positivity. He sighs, raking his hand through his hair.]

In other news, my feet are fucking freezing, because no one gave me the heads up that I'd be taking the vacation from hell in the middle of Bumfuck, Alaska, so I need some shoes. Or socks, whatever, I'm not picky. I'll trade for them, but don't waste my time and try to scalp me. [There's the slightest pause.] Uh, thanks.
