I.

[ Steph is pretty disoriented when she wakes up, but her first thought is to check on the other people in the room. She turns to the nearest person to ask, ]

You okay?

II.

[ Having established that nobody is hurt, Steph's next course of action is not to check her tablet but the pit instead. She gets right up to the edge of it on her stomach to peer into its depth. ]

Hmm. The bottomless elephant in the room.

[phaseshifter]

[ That's an earth expression (and animal) that Angel actually knows, so there's no confused questioning about why an elephant wouldn't have a butt from her. Alas. Instead she joins Steph at the edge, holding her glowy arm towards the pit in an attempt to illuminate it.

Unsurprisingly, the effort is about as useful as a Torgue firearm in a sniping contest. Which means not at all. Like, not even a little. ]

Think if we yell into it, something'll yell back? I'm getting that kind of feeling.

[ Rather than answer, Steph cups her hands around her mouth to shout into the pit. ]

Hello!

[phaseshifter]

...Maybe it doesn't speak English. Do you know any other languages? I know bits of the Elpis dialect, but...

[ ...but the Elpis dialect is just space Australian, and Angel is really bad at the accent. Really, really bad. Like really super bad. Amazingly bad. Bad. ]

Um. G'day, mate...?

[ Seriously she sounds like a drunken pirate or something it's awful ]

[ Steph turns to stare at Angel. ]

You... do know that's just English, right?

[phaseshifter]

[Defensively:] Yes. No! Well, kind of, in places. It's an offshoot! They say things like... bonza, and sheila. You know, things that don't actually mean anything? I think.

Didgeridoo.

[ angel please, ]

Okay, bonza doesn’t mean anything, but Sheila is a name and I’m pretty sure a didgeridoo is a kind of instrument?

Yeah, fine.

[He doesn't look fine. He doesn't even turn to look at Steph at all; Stephen's sat up with his bags around him, staring at the pit in the center of the room.]

You?

[ Stephen that wasn't remotely convincing. ]

Yeah, I'm fine. Not hurt, anyway.

[ why are you staring at the pit ]

No cages this time around.

[This is more like the other time, the incomprehensible maze, but when he wakes up somewhere he wasn't before, it's the tower that comes to his mind.]

[ Ah, right, yeah. Steph is made to think more of the maze incident. ]

No, no cages. And... is it just me, or is it pretty warm in here?

[ She may actually remove some of her many layers. ]

Yeah. Balmy. I'm really comfortable, actually.

[He's already stripped off the extra layers he'd put on for sleeping, himself. He doesn't seem thrilled about it, somehow. Almost like he associates being warm with impending torture or something.]

Hmm.

[ This is not a good state for Stephen to be in. Steph takes a moment to strip off all her extra layers, leaving her in her Spoiler getup when she stands up and moves around in front of him. ]

Hey. We're okay. Okay? We've got our gear. I for one am armed. We're gonna be okay.

[heroproceeding]

Peachy.

[ The grunt comes with much displeasure. He's already been squinting at the white wall for a minute, just trying to get his breathing under control, but he turns his head and there's a hint of his eyes widening. ]

Steph- long time, no see.

[spoileralert]

[ Steph has to stiffle a snort of laughter at that response. Yeah, she's disoriented, but physically she seems to be in pretty good condition. ]

Hey Zack. Fancy meeting you here.

[heroproceeding]

We always seem to run into each other in the best places, huh. [ But then, it's Snowhell. What else would he expect at this point? Groaning lowly, he slowly raises himself up onto hands and knees before standing tall. ] You know, the white walls actually aren't so bad after all the eyeballs and blood. Almost refreshing.

[spoileralert]

It's nice to be able to wear just the one layer for a change, too.

[ Steph has stripped down to her Spoiler getup already, and feels downright breezy. ]

[heroproceeding]

Yeah... At least it will be once I get this thing off'a me. [ Zack's... still getting to that point, already trying to carefully undo the straps on his harness. It takes a bit. He's had to put more and more care into its removal as time's gone by. A few times, he's even had to repair it at this point and the damage shows here and there.

But he frees himself up and the pieces clunk to the floor with the pauldrons before he starts to take care of his coat. ] Interesting get up you have there.

[ Steph watches in amusement, half tempted to try and help. But that shit looks complicated, and she doesn't want to mess it up. ]

Thanks. I could have sworn you'd seen it before, but I guess I started layering pretty early on.

[devoutish]

Does it look bigger to you?

[Alfie, hanging around close to the edge (though not as close as Steph), needs a second opinion, and she's it. He's been watching it for a while, and he thinks it might have grown, but it's hard to be sure.]

Bigger?

[ Steph's practically in the pit already, so she only takes a moment to consider that. ]

Yeah, I think it might be a little bigger than it was a minute ago.

[devoutish]

Mm. Bigger and bigger, until it swallows us up.

[He says absently. Eventually he'll notice that the room around them is growing too, but he's not at that point yet.]

We don't know that. I'm only looking at the hole.

[ She drags herself up with considerable effort, keeping her eyes on the pit's edge as she must. Safely on her butt she turns to watch the wall. But this will take a while... ]

I tell you what though, there are answers in this hole, and I want them.

[devoutish]

Answers, or lies. A way out, or a trick.

[You're a downer, Alfie. Who invited you to the party?]

Lies are just a different kind of answer.

[ She doesn't look away from the wall, but it certainly looks like her mind is made up. ]
