Where are you headed when lockdown ends?

East. Gonna see to Kesara; bring her some food. Might go west again after that, to gather supplies now that the digging's done.

[plundering]

I can follow you part of the way. Meet back up with John and then head back to Rhys.

[If that's cool.]

[devoutish]

Yeah. Tell Rhys hello for me.

I'll drop by for a visit, if we're in the same area again.

[He assumes they will be at some point. It's not that big of a town.]

[plundering]

Rhys would like to see you.

[And she would, too. But she doesn't need to say that.]

He's a good lad. I'll see about coming by soon.

[He does genuinely like Rhys, and Angel as well - and yes, he would absolutely like to spend more time with Fiona.]

[plundering]

Yeah. I heard you helped him when he came back.

[devoutish]

Mm, yeah. I saw men like him, in the war. I know how to deal with 'em.

[In combat and other dangerous life-or-death situations, you're rough with them to snap them out of it - forcibly if necessary, as far as he's concerned. But in downtime, you can afford to be a little more gentle.]

Thanks. For watching out for him. He didn't tell me where he was at first.

[devoutish]

We came across him by chance. Ended up in the same building for the night. The day he came back, I think.

[plundering]

[She nods.]

Yeah, but you didn't need to help him. You could have just ignored him.

[So he wins points.]

[devoutish]

He would have kept me up all night, if I had.

[Which was part of the reason he'd helped. And the other part...]

Yeah, I never had it nearly as bad as him, but I do remember what it was like.

[plundering]

Do you?

[She's not going to press, but it surprises her a little bit.]

[devoutish]

We all had our bad nights, from time to time. Down in the mud, in the dark, bombs whizzing overhead.

[plundering]

That can't be fun to talk about.

[So he doesn't have to, if he doesn't want to.]

I have made peace with it.

[It's something some men have never been able to do, either partially or entirely. He remembers testing the waters there with Tommy Shelby - needling him about his unit being wiped out, seeing the emotion flash in his eyes, and then being impressed when he'd kept his head anyway.]

If I were you, right, or your friend Angel - I'd try to help him do the same.

[plundering]

[Fiona isn't interested in pushing him or testing him. She's thinking of him as a friend now, for better or for worse, even as she can practically hear Felix's disapproving voice in the back of her mind. Her circle is expanding, and it's strange. She doesn't know how she feels about it.]

I'll do my best. Angel's better at that.

[devoutish]

Yeah. She's a good one, too. Haven't spoken to her much, but she seems the sort.

[And she clearly cares about Rhys.]

[Fiona's smiling, though.]

She's smart. Crazy smart.

[She does indeed seem like the biggest sap.]

With the AIs, yeah; the hacking.

[The intense robot love and AI rights talk kind of bemuses him, but he just kind of glosses over it.]

Good at reading people, too. She got me pretty well, and I make a point of being harder to read than most.

[plundering]

You are pretty mysterious.

[The teasing is endless at this point.]

She watches people. Really observant and sneaky.

[And Fiona absolutely sounds approving.]

She'd be a good gangster.

I think she'd call you a "bandit".

She did, yeah. I've got a "bandit gang".

[He's a little amused by it, actually.]
