Mind you, right, I don't understand all of it. AIs, and how sentient they may or may not be - that, I can't wrap my head around.

No? [She shrugs.] I think of them as people, I guess.

Even though they're manmade?

You mean our brains? That's just neurons and chemicals, right? If you can connect a data drive to someone's brain, it isn't crazy to think you could recreate one.

What about our souls? Do you believe in the soul?

Does anyone where you're from? It's not always a religious thing.

Yeah, sure. There are religions where I'm from, too. I just don't believe in any of them.

[Some of them are probably just not what he'd expect.]

Keeping to the same rituals when I can helps. Everybody I know at home would be praying before bed, too.
