[network] @MarbleHornets; morning 20 [open]
[Here's a summary of the last ten or so hours of Jay's life: he woke up locked inside a spooky cold morgue in the middle of the night, suffering from a terrible headache and sensitivity to light that made him want to curl up in the shadows. Then, just as he finally managed to fall asleep, he woke up to a mystery injection with no warning. Then, upon inspecting the tablet he found on him, he discovered he'd recently posted a video on the local network despite having no memory of doing so. A video that made it look a lot like he'd died.
Actually, he seems to be missing at least several weeks' worth of memories. Again.
And just to top everything off, he has no tapes for his camera.
Everything really sucks.
He hadn't planned on making any more posts until he had a better grasp on the situation, but after a skim of earlier posts he feels the need to ask a question.]
Apparently a couple of people here have lost their memories and then gotten them back. Is that a common thing? If there's anyone else who's experienced something like that, please tell me. Thank you.

Whatever. Jay's back now. He worried for nothing. Everything is fine. ]

Yeah, Tim has a bad case of that. His sense of foreboding is every bit as overgrown and magnificent as his sideburns are. ]
wb man. any idea what memories you're missing, or
and are you at the same place I woke up before
if so I can start heading back that way today
no subject
He hasn't looked through the replies yet. He's planning to, but finding out if he could get his memories back took priority in his mind.]
I'm not sure where I am yet. But you really don't need to worry yourself over it, I'm sure I'll be fine on my own.
[He could just admit that he has no idea who he's talking to. If, you know, he wasn't a paranoid idiot. It's clearly a much better idea to pretend nothing's wrong! Which he's totally succeeding at perfectly!]
no subject
Shit. What if he hadn't died instantly. What if he'd laid there helpless waiting for someone to come for him and they hadn't and he'd frozen or been torn apart by the shadow things. What if. ]
don't be dumb
I'm sorry if you're pissed at me but you KNOW that's not how things work around here
we have to stick together
no subject
And even if they are, there's no way he's going to just trust someone he doesn't remember.
He only trusts people he knows he shouldn't trust!]I'm not pissed at you. Like I said I don't know where I am, but I'll let you know if I find out.

[ It's a fear of Clarke's — she doesn't want to be compromised mentally. More than she already has been. ]
I remember someone losing a few days awhile back, I think. The memories came back with time.
no subject
But you haven't experienced it yourself?
no subject
No. Do you know how much you don't remember? I can try to help jog your memory or at least fill you in on what happened here.
no subject
I don't remember anything about this place. Can you tell me a little about it?

can't remember the name of the guy who told me it happened to him but I could look into it and get back to you.
[ Not sure how much it would help, but... The idea of losing memories that matter a hella lot to him... He can understand wanting all the help he could get getting those ones back at least. Though they say you can't miss what you don't have. Or well. Don't remember having would perhaps be the more appropriate phrasing in this case. ]
no subject
Apparently it happens to people who've died.
[Which he's not buying for a second. He might have woken up in a morgue, but he can't possibly have come back from the dead, right? That would be ridiculous.]
Do you know anything about that?
no subject
All the same, it takes him a moment to get back to 'MarbleHornets'. He had to do some backlogging and that's not typically his thing. ]
the guy's name's Nocturne on here. I don't know how much more he could tell you about it but there you have it. [ But as far as knowing anything else... ]
otherwise from what I've heard there's been a few people who got trapped outside. I know it sounds pretty crazy to think anyone would come back from the dead. but I also know there's no way you could survive out in weather like that.
[ Unless it wasn't the same person coming back. Unless... But the thought alone feels morbid and cruel. And he would rather that not be the case. ]
if your place is anything like mine the dead don't usually come back. who knows what kind of price it comes with? [ Memories might only be scratching the surface. ]
no subject
[Even if the guy doesn't have anything useful to tell, it's still something worth looking into.]
And yes I'm pretty sure returning from the dead is not actually something that can happen. Since they can give us these mystery injections and who knows what else, maybe making us think they can resurrect people is a part of that.
[He's not sure which idea is more disturbing, that people are actually getting brough back or that there's an elaborate enough deception going on that it looks like they are.]

Hey! You're okay! Thank goodness, Tim was really worried about you... and so was I.
[Memory loss is something Clayton suffered after revival, so it points to that too, but...]
Do you remember hitting your head? Maybe that's what's caused any memory loss.
voice;
Uh, yeah. I'm okay. I don't really remember, like- anything from this place. So if I hit my head, I really don't remember.
no subject
[He can't deny that he's shocked, he didn't think even Clayton's memory loss was that bad.]
Do you know who I am?
no subject
[He doesn't want to hurt the kid's feelings, but there's not much point in pretending anymore, not after he told Tim just how little he remembers.]

[she's also overheard enough to know that she should probably, definitely not use video with this guy. Voice-to-text it is.]
Thank goodness you're alive! After that video, we — a lot of people feared the worst.
My name is Freya. You don't know me, but I spoke to your friend Tim that night, after the... well. Afterwards. Do you remember Tim?
[now, if she'd eavesdropped properly on the previous conversations before answering his message, she'd already know that he didn't remember Tim at all. Or much of anything...]
no subject
Well I kind of remember him from back home. But apparently I've forgotten a lot that happened even before I came here. And I mean a LOT. Especially about Tim.
no subject
Oh.
Well. I think you're coping admirably. You're doing very well.
[flawless reassurance. After another pause:]
...How much is a lot, if you don't mind?
no subject
[He hesitates a little before answering. He already talked about it with Tim in public, so it's not like he can keep it a secret, but it still feels a little private.
Then again, if this had happened back home, he'd have told it to the entire internet. Telling one person one-on-one isn't that different, right?]
Something like two years apparently. Eventful ones.

text - @claytonator
[...In theory. Clayton returns a bit later to see that the situation might be more complicated than he first thought. He doesn't read through all of the conversation Jay and Tim have had so far, but he gets through enough to see that he's lost more than just a few weeks. Well, that's inconvenient. Going to have to play this a little differently than anticipated.]
Jay, it's Clayton. I know you don't remember me and that's fine. You helped me through my own amnesia after I was brought back, so I'd like to think that I understand what you're going through right now.
It's important to orient yourself. Can you describe the building that you woke up in? Are you still there?
no subject
I was in a chapel but I'm not there anymore. Tim gave me some directions so hopefully getting oriented won't be too much of a problem.
no subject
That's good news. You headed north through the graveyard, I hope? There isn't a lot to find south of the church--or if there is, it's a very long walk.
