[ So this thing has a soul, whatever that's supposed to mean when you take religion away from it. Not quite a robot, then. ]

Why many bodies? Does it not work otherwise?

[ It would have been a lot more practical to make, say, ten Ecks from one or two bodies each, rather than one out of twenty, unless the state of decay was a concern. ]

I would say no. I would probably say no.

It does not work otherwise. There is more magic if you use more bodies and you need a lot of magic to make it alive so a soul will come instead of an elemental spirit.

So what, souls and spirits just wander around looking for a flesh sack to hop into? That must be one hell of a weird place.

Yes. Depending on who asks and why and how I feel about it.

[She gives him a puzzled look. No, really, she's making an effort to look really puzzled.]

All souls come from another plane. That is how there are souls that make us people instead of things without souls.

So, I'm guessing you wouldn't listen to me.

[ Which kind of sucks because he wants to see what happens, but that's fine. There's plenty of people he can shove in later if they don't start jumping in by themselves, right? ]

How did they get there?

If you told me to jump into the pit I would not listen to you. I do not know how souls get there. They are souls. They come from another plane and then they are on our plane.

'Nd just when I thought we're getting somewhere. [ Is that disappointment? ] Sure, there's good chance anyone who jumps is just going to die, but... Aren't you curious at all?

I am not curious enough to jump into a pit. That would be stupid.

Are you curious enough to jump into a pit?

[ Well, the creature seems to have been honest with him so far... ]

I'm curious enough to watch someone else jump into a pit so I can maybe see what happens unless it's too far down, and definitely not die.

[ecks]

That is an intelligent level of curiosity to possess, except I think it is too far down and the person would die and we would not see, and also it would be murder if we told someone else to jump and they jumped.

I dunno, that sounds more like suicide encouragement to me. You need a bit more shoving for proper murder. [ he sounds thoughtful. ] It does look pretty deep, huh? What a pain.

I thought it was murder if you did anything that caused another person to die.

[sharktrash]

Absolutely not. If that were the case, most businessmen and debt collectors would be in jail.

Like, it's murder if you axe someone in the head. It's not murder if you watch someone stumble into the pit and don't help. Know what I mean?

I think that is still murder. It is murder by not helping.

You don't "murder" someone by not helping. You just let them die. There's a difference.

I know there is a difference. It is a different kind of murder.

No one told me that. I thought about it and decided it.

I do a lot of thinking. I also hit people sometimes.

See, that's more like it! You should do that first thing less and the second more. There's nothing that can't be solved with violence.

That is not true. I murdered Mycroft Holmes and it did not stop the people he had already told to hurt Doctor House. It only made Mycroft Holmes dead. It did not solve the problem.

[sharktrash]

That's 'cause he's not the problem in this scenario. [ gosh so obvious. ] If you had murdered the people going after the doc, that would've solved it.

And hey, I'd bet Holmes is less likely to do that again after this. Can't say it didn't do anything.

I did not know who the people going after Doctor House were and Mycroft Holmes would not cooperate.

I do not know if he is less likely. He does not talk to me now.

Hey, doesn't sound like a bad thing. Unless you loved having long chats with him in the moonlight, in which case sucks to be you.
