Damn.

[Her voice is quiet, and underneath her usual deadpan, there's a hint of laughter, the kind of helpless laughter you do when you really can't do anything else.]

Hadn't realized you'd figured out that much.

So it's true? I thought so.

[His eyes seem to get a far-away look.]

I wanted to talk to Miss Luna about it, but she had a lot going on. She was keeping all these secrets, like being a robot. I didn't want to bother her about it, since she was so upset, so I just pretended not to know.

That... was actually pretty sweet of you.

[She sighs softly.]

But yeah. I can't say for sure about what timeline you're on, but that's about the most of it.
averytinyparticle: (I guess so...)

I miss her. I wish I could have told her that I like her no matter what she's done.

[His eyes start to water with tears, but he wipes them away, blinking quickly.]

I have to go back either way, don't I?

[She pauses for a moment, sighs.]

Not necessarily.

Assuming the theory keeps holding true, everything - every decision - causes a split in the timelines, one where one thing happens, and another where it doesn't. So in all likelihood there's a timeline where none of this happened. Where none of us were brought to Norfinbury, and our timeline progresses as it should.

[...]

It's something I've been trying to remember. Even though being in one of the "bad" timelines isn't exactly too appealing for me either.
averytinyparticle: (You are really dumb for real.)

Wow...

[It's all so much. But he gets it, he thinks. And it makes sense. It makes it feel a bit less pressing and awful.]

So even if either of us is or was from a "good" timeline, choosing not to come back wouldn't really matter, because in another timeline we'd make the opposite choice? It sounds like it might be better just to cut our losses.

["Screw it" is becoming a more and more appealing choice]
