[He sets his head back against the table.]

Or are they gonna restore the servers from some backup drive in the couch cushions?

[Some of the humor has faded from his voice. The more he thinks about his Batman out there killing people for reasons that have nothing to do with him the more his stomach clenches.]

They'll make us remember it. [Of that, House has no doubt. Norfinbury doesn't take away the traumatizing memories.] But we'll probably get reset. I put a few notches in that door that weren't there before when I got here. I started out in an apartment nearby tonight. If I get shuffled back there, I can come back through and check it, see if any of the changes stayed.

I'm betting they won't.

[ Rhys is unnaturally quiet when he enters the house. At least at first -- it's hard to miss the clicking of his wonderfully tacky heels

Also hard to miss snatches of their conversation. It isn't a matter of if there are people hiding in here. It's where.

He doesn't call out. If he's harder to pinpoint, he'll be harder to escape. ]

[Joker tugs the brim of his hat down to hide his glowing eyes and makes a shushing gesture at House.

He does not bother to look in the direction of the footsteps, that would only give him away.]

[House clamps his mouth shut and pulls his beanie down to cover most of his eyes. If he'd thought he was tense before, the sense of impending doom increases tenfold, the pounding of his own heart filling his ears.

He stays as still as possible after that, but if Rhys' eyes are keen, he might be able to spot the very faint glow of the two men's eyes behind the table.]

[ The footsteps stop. It's hard to tell, then, if Rhys has caught sight of their telltale glow.

A different sort of glow assaults them from one side -- Dumpy, floating as accusingly as a robot can float.

Rhys closes in from the other side, frying pan in hand. He's slipped out of his dumb elf booties for bonus stealth points. ]

[The Joker swings his fireplace poker at Dumpy like a baseball bat.]

[And House flattens himself on the ground. Dumpy being here means it's Rhys. Jesus Christ, is he really going to have to fight this guy again? At least he doesn't have the robot arm on him anymore. But that doesn't mean he won't have other weapons.

If he can, House will attempt to just wriggle away while Joker takes on Dumpy and Rhys together. It's no skin off his nose whoever dies in that fight.]

[ Despite his efforts to stay small, stay hidden, House is the one Rhys sees first. Is the one he should kill first, he's just a weak old mean. Plenty of evidence to prove that he goes down easy.

But the Joker is with him. Distracted by Dumpy. Priority of target: number freaking one.

Greg who?

He steps over House, though stomps forcefully on his spine, as if that will keep him prone, before swinging at the Joker's head as Dumpy falls with an anguished shriek. ]

[Joker turns in time to see the frying pan come for his face but in his sickness he is too slow to move out of the way and takes the blow.]

OOF!

What's your problem, Sonny Jim?

[He stands and sways slightly.]

You gonna kill a poor old clown? You're not still angry about the death of whatsername, are you?

[House grunts in pain as Rhys' boot comes down near his tailbone. That might not be debilitating, but it hurts like hell. He manages to scrabble past Rhys, though, and around the table, coming up to crawl properly toward the doorway.

The Joker is being a very effective distraction. House will take it while he can.]

Happily. Repeatedly

[ Maybe not so true under normal circumstances.




Maybe.

He brings the pan back, fury burning in the pit of his stomach. ]

And her name was -- [ Swing. ] FI [ Another swing. ] -ONA!!

[ Again and again he swings, losing focus on House, just glancing at him once before the bludgeoning gains steam. He can find House later. He WILL. ]

[Joker sneers and manages to block the swinging pan with his knife, like someone used to parrying blows. He backs up and eyes Rhys a moment before dropping his weapon.

Really, what's the point? This is probably another glitch with the rapid movement everyone seems to be doing.

And if it isn't.... Batman tried to kill him. Norfinbury made his Batsy try to kill him! It took his punchline.

What is a clown with no joke? It's a man crying into the night. There is no audience out there in the darkness.]

Eh, what am I doing?

[He opens his arms invitingly.]

You gonna whack me? Then c'mon, do it! Do it if you're man enough!
