Its late when he arrives at the house, nearing lock down since it took him all
of his movementday to get from the chapel to shelter. He cracks the door open--it squeaks more than he'd like--and peeks inside before entering. While he'd prefer somewhere empty he knows he doesn't have time to get to anywhere else and really doesn't want to freeze to death again. Company will have to do.B
Once things have settled down and people are starting to sleep he's...not. He doesn't want to think, and trying to sleep would give him too much time for that, so he's searching the house. He's trying not to be too loud, and isn't really making enough noise to wake anyone up, but he's still making more noise than he'd like while moving things around. And there's the occasional cough that adds to that.

In the middle of the night Brian is up again. He's tried to sleep this time but generally failed (more than usual) so he's found a corner far away from everyone else and is doing something with his tablet. And mumbling to himself. Do feel free to bother him (in any of these), surely he won't mind the company >:3
C
So, perhaps the greeting is a bit too cheerful for the middle of the night, but, well, this is Ginger we're talking about. And she's been finding it strangely difficult to sleep through the night. Her mind's just always buzzing with something--she feels like if she can stay up and up and up she'll get all these neat ideas and maybe she'll be able to make something nice for somebody! For once, she actually has some decent material to work with.
She'd been up most of the night, but it's when she goes to stretch her legs for a bit when she runs into Brian. She has her own tablet and a purse full of sewing materials and a few different pieces of fabric in her arms. Beaming, Ginger invites herself to sit down next to him.
"I didn't know anybody else was still awake! I was just going to go make sure I could find somewhere I wouldn't be a bother to anybody sleeping but now we can keep each other company!"

He scoots away from her and shakes his head. "I do not want--need company."
His voice is hoarse; dry and dusty from lack of use for years.
no subject
"You sound terribly thirsty, sweetie. Would you like some water? I don't mind sharing anything you need."
no subject
He scoots away a little bit more and makes sure his tablet screen his hidden from her. No one else needs to see his conversations.
"I am not thirsty." He is kind of thirsty. Most of his water bottles are filled with snow right now. "I do not need any thing."
no subject
"Honey, if that's what you think, you must not be hanging around the right people. Everybody's gotta, like, have some friend! Otherwise, like, what a total bummer!" She pulls one of her water bottles out from her purse and sets it between them. "Offer's open, okay? So don't be shy!"
Her smile fades a little as she looks from the water bottle up to him again. Kind of, like, weird that he's wearing a mask but whatever floats your boat. "I'm not gonna spy on your conversations or anything, you don't have to worry about that."
no subject
Need? Have? Want? Its anyone's guess what word he's missing there. Maybe all of them.
no subject
Yes, Ginger is definitely misunderstanding this to mean that Brian doesn't feel as if he has friends. Or maybe just that he doesn't have any at all. Either way, she feels so bad! Like, everybody should have friends!
"I'm sure you have way more friends than you realize. But you don't have to worry about that because I'll definitely be your friend! Sure!"
As if this was some sort of open invitation. Good going, Ginger.
no subject
"What."
--not what he was saying. How did she take that as he was asking for friends? No no no.
"No, I do not have--do not need--do not want--do friends."
no subject
He can be as big of a scene kid as he wants and pretend he doesn't need or want friends, and she'll just support him "quietly" behind the scenes.
"Hey! I have a good idea! I found these cute smiley face stickers. Want one? You can put it on your tablet or your mask or something. I bet it would make you happy to look at!" Think of it as a token of new friendship, Brian.
no subject
He doesn't know what that word means, but its beside the point. He scoots further away from her as she mentions the stickers.
"I do not want any thing. Go away."
no subject
"If this is about earlier, I'm not upset or anything! We can just forget about it!"
no subject
He doesn't do cute, ugh. That is not a word that should apply to him.
"We cannot for get."

B!
Um, hi! [ She says it a little quietly, trying not to startle him. ]
Are you looking for something to drink? You have been coughing for a while.
[ That's not creepy at all, no-siree-bob. ]
no subject
No. I am fine.
*That statement is followed up by another cough, though, but at least it doesn't seem too serious
yet.*no subject
I don't mind sharing, here--
[ She rifles through her backpack and produces a little bottle with a twist-off cap. It's filled with strawberry-flavored milk! ]
Ah! I picked that up yesterday -- at a convenience store, I think -- because I thought it would be good wiiiith--
[ Another dig through her backpack; this time, she pulls out a glazed doughnut, protectively wrapped in a handkerchief. Parts of it still got kind of squished, though. ]
This! It is a doughnut; wanna split it?
no subject
That is...dog? Ja de?
no subject
Um... what? I- I don't--
[ Wait a gosh-darn second. That meme-like phrasing. That odd cadence, as if the speaker would use the spacebar with little regard for grammar. She's heard -- or rather, read -- something like this before... ]
Oh! It's you-- totheark, right? Hehe, nice to meet you in person. [ Her grin is so cheesy it's downright curdled. ]
no subject
Yes, that is me.
Uh....hel lo?
no subject
Hello-- ah, I don't think I ever got your name? I would introduce myself first, but it seems you already know who I am.
no subject
I don't have--they call me "Brian." Or "totheark" is fine.
no subject
It sounds like you are not very comfortable with being called "Brian". Do you, uh, have a preference?
no subject
*He pauses for a moment, not really sure how to explain the whole name issue.*
...itis fine. It does not matter what you call me.
no subject
I will just call you Brian, then, because it is shorter. Hello, Brian!
[ You're supposed to wave when you greet someone, right? Right. She'll do that. ]
Found any cats yet? [ She laughs a little, then remembers who she's talking to. ]
Um, that was a joke; I know there are no animals here.
no subject
*Didn't he say that already? Greetings were weird.
He shakes his head.*
No cats, no thing use ful. Most of this town is ....junk.
