Need? Have? Want? Its anyone's guess what word he's missing there. Maybe all of them.

Yes, Ginger is definitely misunderstanding this to mean that Brian doesn't feel as if he has friends. Or maybe just that he doesn't have any at all. Either way, she feels so bad! Like, everybody should have friends!
"I'm sure you have way more friends than you realize. But you don't have to worry about that because I'll definitely be your friend! Sure!"
As if this was some sort of open invitation. Good going, Ginger.
no subject
"What."
--not what he was saying. How did she take that as he was asking for friends? No no no.
"No, I do not have--do not need--do not want--do friends."
no subject
He can be as big of a scene kid as he wants and pretend he doesn't need or want friends, and she'll just support him "quietly" behind the scenes.
"Hey! I have a good idea! I found these cute smiley face stickers. Want one? You can put it on your tablet or your mask or something. I bet it would make you happy to look at!" Think of it as a token of new friendship, Brian.
no subject
He doesn't know what that word means, but its beside the point. He scoots further away from her as she mentions the stickers.
"I do not want any thing. Go away."
no subject
"If this is about earlier, I'm not upset or anything! We can just forget about it!"
no subject
He doesn't do cute, ugh. That is not a word that should apply to him.
"We cannot for get."
no subject
"How come? It's easy you just go...poof!" She bops herself lightly in the head with the palm of her hand. "There! Now it's gone! Goodbye unhappy thought!"
no subject
"No. You cannot just for get every thing that is unhappy."
no subject
Is she talking too much? Probably. But she can't stop when she's earnest! Which is most of the time, but that's hardly the important thing. What's important is getting on Brian's good side, because everybody has one!

"I am listening," she says with a tone of misery, for once her voice softening. "I'm sorry if I seemed like I wasn't. Pretty please give me another chance? I'll listen much better, I promise. Cross my heart!"
no subject
"What Isaid be fore. Heis danger ous. He is a liar."
Liars are bad, okay.
no subject
"Okay."
Hey, it's Ginger. She'll find a way to make it work, if only in her own head.
"I believe you. Honest. I'll be more careful from now on."
She smiles at him, not really being capable of being so serious for such a long amount of time. Because, you know, a handful of minutes is a long time!
"And I'm not a liar! Cross my heart and pinky swear and everything!"
no subject
"Good."
He cants his head at the last bit.
"What?"
no subject
She holds up both of her hands and hugs her little fingers together to demonstrate.
"You do this with somebody else when you make them a promise, and it's the most sacred of all promises ever! So you can't ever break it. If you do, bad things happen. I don't know what bad things, but I've never broken a pinky swear so I couldn't tell you. But it would have to be bad! It's not good to break promises."
Ginger nods sagely.

no subject
"Oh, no, I didn't mean that! It's not about telling the truth or lying, it's about trusting your friends not to let you down. Trust is different, right? Like, it's kind of the same, because you can't trust somebody who's lying to you, but even somebody who never lies to you at all might not be somebody you want to trust."
She beams again, not at all to be deterred in her ultimate goal.
"We're friends now, so I won't rest until we know we can trust each other. That's what friendship's about!"
no subject
He shakes his head. "We are not friends. I donot trust you. I do not wantto be fri ends. Go a way."
no subject
Ginger is about to go on a bit of a spiel. Maybe she's not friends for him yet, but it can happen! He just needs to give her a chance since he doesn't know her yet, and she'll show him that she's trustworthy! And it'll be great and he'll be so much happier! Or...something like that. Probably. Friendship is always a good thing!
But then he says that he doesn't want to be friends and there's not very much she can do to argue that. She can't stop herself from looking crestfallen, her shoulders slumping.
"Oh." She looks down. "Well, if you don't want to...I guess that's just that."
Ginger pauses, then gathers her things up again and stands with a (albeit smaller) smile.
"I'll leave you alone. Good night!"
no subject
He nods as she gets up. "Good. I donot want--need comp any."
If he's noticed her change in mood he doesn't care. (But lets be honest here, he hasn't noticed that it means anything.)
