Man, that's a creepy thought. That there are more than just the admin pulling stuff.
The other possibility is we're the side effects of whatever the hell happened here.
Like they can't stop people from appearing here so they are making the most of our appearance.

What reason is there to suppose that the monsters are normal? The theory that I was aware of is that they have been disruptive to @admin before.

They are disruptive where I'm from but they are normal. You run across them any time you set foot outside of most towns.
For here though, it's the houses.
They are made of metal.
I could understand if it was just the frames made of metal, but it doesn't stop there.
The walls are made of it. The doors. Even up in the attics of some houses.
They are built to keep something in or out. Probably both.

This is not where you are from, but it's an interesting point. Still, from what we know of this town before whatever took place here, the monsters don't seem to, shall we say fit in.

If anything, it seems more likely that they were part of the cataclysm that took place here.

It could be that people had curfews because the monsters only came out at night or something.
There is also the beacon thing people were talking about.
Why is there something that attracts monsters?

So there's some good news in all of this.

[Not that she can see it, but "all of this" refers to the mess that just went down - Clayton's missing, all the energy seems to be sapped from him, and Quark is much worse, and everything seems so bleak. That Clayton is still alive somewhere affords him a tiny sliver of hope, at least.]

But do you have any idea where he might be?

Absolutely none, but he's obviously not dead. I'm sure there's no reason to worry; he'll turn up eventually.

[He's relieved, to some extent, but his current state is very predisposed to fearing the worst. It doesn't preclude his ability to understand, at least, where her sentiment is coming from.

But he can't settle for being glad he's alive right now.]

But in what state? He might have only lost his tablet, but that's only one possibility, and all the others are so worrisome.

[Should he go north and look for him? Go south and look for Clem? There's a precious life at stake either way and struggling with the choice drains what little energy he has.]

You're worrying far too much. Why assume that something terrible's happened? He's a grown man, obviously sensible enough to avoid the monsters; perhaps he just got tired of being beholden to a group.

That isn't how Clayton would think of his companions, and avoiding monsters would be rather difficult if his Beacon continues to attract them.

[He doesn't mean to be a pessimist...but her logic is just plain off. And he's kind of turned into one anyway.]
