It's vertigo.

[ Gabriel responds just after a coughing fit, and trying to speak causes it to flare up again. But after a few moments, he collects himself again. ]

At least, I think so. Hard to tell when everything's white like this. None of it's probably real, anyway.

The inner ear is a terrible adaption. Why is this a possible reaction to anything that could happen to a human? What does it help? We should have made you better.

Ha.

[ That's as much of a chuckle as he can manage right now. ]

Yeah, maybe. It usually works pretty well, though. When it's not being sabotaged.

This is a very dramatic response to sabotage. Does this happen so often under normal circumstances or is this something unique to Norfinbury?
termineur: (I don't wanna)

[personal profile] termineur 2018-10-17 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Gabriel snorts lightly. ]

It can happen other times- when you get sick- but it's rarely this bad. Norfinbury puts its own special, horrible spin on it, as usual.
godsspeed: (i have regrets)

[personal profile] godsspeed 2018-10-17 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
If I'd known being sick was like even a fraction of this I would have spent more time petitioning my commanders to authorize more miraculous healing.
termineur: (Sure)

[personal profile] termineur 2018-10-17 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He snickers again- Castiel is doing wonders for his mood while he's stuck here, at least. ]

Guess I wish you'd known earlier, then. You don't usually get sick when you're possessing someone's body, then? Or is it- [ He has to take a break for a small coughing fit, but gets right back to questioning when he can.] -is it more that you avoid sick people?
godsspeed: (ohhhhh)

[personal profile] godsspeed 2018-10-18 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[ At least someone's having a slightly less than absolutely miserable time! ]

Many of the vessels I've taken in the past have been ill or injured, but the mere act of holding an angel's grace within one's self is often enough to undo almost any bodily harm, short of being taken apart at the molecular level and as long as the soul hasn't been taken to the next world yet. And even then, sometimes arrangements can be made.
termineur: (Pleased)

[personal profile] termineur 2018-10-22 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Gabriel coughs but otherwise looks intensely interested. This is way more fun than focusing on whatever's happening to them now. ]

Even then, huh? Wow. I guess that makes sense- you just heal them so you can use them. And I bet it makes asking if you can possess someone a little easier if you can leave them feeling better after it's done, anyway.
godsspeed: (did you just stab me)

[personal profile] godsspeed 2018-10-24 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ And talking is taking Castiel's mind off of how incredibly corporeal he feels at the moment, so it's really a win-win scenario. He does pull a bit of a face when Gabriel describes inhabiting a vessel as using them, though, even if he can't exactly argue that it's not technically accurate. ]

It makes things easier on everyone. Those who give themselves over so fully to the service of Heaven deserve to be left in a better state than they were before, if possible.
termineur: (Animated)

[personal profile] termineur 2018-10-29 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. Guess that's just fair, yeah.

[ He still sounds surprised, though. Apparently his basic assumption was that God wasn't fair. But he probably shouldn't pre-judge other worlds, should he? ]

So, you ever take over someone's dead body? Anything unusual like that? Or is that even- [ cough cough ] -unusual?
godsspeed: (dead)

cw: coughing blood, etc.

[personal profile] godsspeed 2018-10-30 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ He's really not wrong in that assessment, though - at least in terms of how Heaven treats people, if not necessarily God Himself. Castiel is unfortunately something of an outlier among his peers, and largely in denial about it. ]

No. I c- [ He gags, rolls over onto his side and spits, coppery and red ] Ugh. Can't inhabit a vessel without its owner's continuous consent. Even if I could, a body without a soul is just... meat. There's nowhere for an angel to fit.
