[ Let's be real, probably cutting it short. Can't have the ho have too much fun with other people before reclaiming the territory and all that. Not that Squalo ever forgets his priorities. ]

[ Still, there's a small indignant shriek when the backpack flaps against the back of his head, and he turns a bit angrily, though it quickly fades into something more solemn. It's like he's sizing Xanxus up for a moment, then frowning. ]

I'm not leaving you behind. What if something happens?

[ He already can't live with himself for failing you once. ]

[What's the something? The bunker's safe enough apart from the mold, so is he really complaining for his own sake? Maybe thinking of an anomaly, or a snowstorm? Then,]

[ There's very few things that irritate Squalo more than someone doubting his courage and he bristles, teeth baring. ]

[ Whether or not Squalo had gone "soft", it has clearly done nothing to his Varia-Quality balls of steel when it came to his boss, as he doesn't look deterred in the slightest as he's prompted to repeat what he said and does so worse. ]

[ Suddenly quiet, Squalo stares back at him. It's not quite fear; it never is with him, it's what separates him from all the trash that quiver at the mere mention of Xanxus. But it gets the job done sometimes, those moments of stunned silence where Squalo's holding his breath and waiting, soaking in all that beautiful rage. ]
