[Unfortunately, even if Biff names his angel, he doesn't remember meeting Rasiel. It's a shame, it would be the perfect way to find out even the Heavens of different worlds are vastly different - his Rasiel, aside from his name being spelled slightly differently, is actually very competent. He just has all the presence of a blustery school principal so nobody tends to listen to him.]

[Oh well.]
Mm...for simplicity's sake I think I'll limit it to the angels who are still angels for now. I've met many, but the ones I am most familiar with are my companions.
[A definite smile creeps into his voice.] Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, who advised me; Uriel, who fought alongside me when he could...
[And if that was just a smile, passing fondness for those he respects, this is the deep, sometimes infectious warmth that comes with subjects nearest and dearest to the heart:] ...and my friend who safeguarded my life and sanity, the-
[He stops abruptly, suddenly nervous.]
Ah...w-well. Those are all quite prominent names already, aren't they? I don't want to come off as a braggart...
[He'd said Lucifel's name to someone before. The result...had been some very uncomfortable implications. He'd like to relegate that to their differing worlds, like the Earths with incompatible events otherwise, hard as it is to understand. In fact, he already has done so subconsciously, for his sanity's sake.
But just the thought of hearing it again...he'll hold back for now.]

Holy cow, who were you hanging out with that brought down practically the whole flock? [ the son of god only warranted shitty raziel??? ]
no subject
[And here he believed he was speaking to a fellow chosen person. Then again, he really shouldn't be surprised since every other favorite seems to be a woman, in his experience. (he's only met two and only has vague memories of one of those, however...)]
I'm afraid it wasn't a person, but a goal, that warranted such a gathering though the other four were so quiet most of the time... You mean you were an ally to a chosen person?
no subject
Yeah, something like that. We liked to call it "best friends".
no subject
How fortunate for the both of you that your friend's circumstances didn't separate you. What was your friend chosen for? I-if you don't mind the question. Meeting or hearing of others is so rare...
[At least he has the distinct feeling he's not being lied to or led on by a delusion - too consistent and too earnest, and too accepting of his own story.]
no subject
[ half of that is, unfortunately, hearsay. he's trying not to think about that. ]
no subject
I'm sorry, God's son? How...
[He realizes any question he could asks assumes things about this Joshua that shouldn't be assumed. God and whom is the real question and he's not sure he should be asking about that. And then there's the worrying - very worrying, actually - sound of that second thing.]
No, wait, "bringing the Kingdom of Heaven"? What does that mean?
[Because as far as he knows, Heaven's entire system of protection for humans is to allow them to build their lives on Earth as they need, not to...bring anything from them to Earth. That's the entire basis behind his mission, in fact...]

Sermons was really more Joshua's thing, he'd have about five parables ready to go for you to explain the coming of the Kingdom. Something about a mustard seed, probably. He really liked that one.
no subject
[A mustard seed? He can't even begin to imagine. But then, he isn't trying, because this blatant question dodging has him nervous, really nervous, as in making-his-whole-mission-pointless nervous.
He's already said as much as he has, he might as well spill the rest and let him know he's serious.]
Does it need to be a sermon? I only want to know what it means...because unless He's decided to go back on everything His angels have ever said to me, I believe God gave us dominion over the Earth to shape into the home we need it to be. What's this about a Kingdom of Heaven being brought down?
no subject
He didn't mean it literally. [ a brief pause ] I don't think. From what I could tell, he meant that the Divine Spark is in everyone. I was, uh, recently breaking it down, you know, to have everything in the written word, you want me to dig that up for you? It doesn't use nearly as many parables.
no subject
[He sounds kind of sheepish. It had been such a close concept to his mission that he was jumping at imagined threats. Maybe it was the atmosphere of this place.]
no subject
Be nice to people, even the creeps.
And if you:
a) believed that Joshua was the Son of God (and)
b) he had come to save you from sin (and)
c) acknowledged the Holy Spirit within you (he liked to call that "became as a little child") (and)
d) didn't blaspheme the Holy Ghost (see c),
then you would:
e) live forever
f) someplace nice
g) probably heaven.
However, if you:
h) sinned (and/or)
i) were a hypocrite (and/or)
j) valued things over people (and)
k) didn't do a, b, c, and d,
then you were:
l) fucked
[ look, he even typed really nice for that. put the backspace to use and everything! a few seconds more and he's remembered how to turn voice back on again. ]
There, that was the gist of it. He brought the word to everyone — and I mean everyone, not just Jews. Even Romans were invited to the Kingdom of Heaven.
no subject
Oh, the whole "be nice to everyone" was sound enough all right, and so was the valuing people over things bit, it was everything else that struck a nervous chord in him.]
Ah...where do you think the souls of the dead go, if not to Heaven?

[He pauses, casts a glance around a bit nervously. He recognizes the societal value this holds, as encouragement to treat other people with respect. If this Joshua hadn't actually been visited by an angel with a name he recognized, if dimly, he would have thought that's all it was. He's seen religion entwined with local law everywhere, and just how little of it his Archangel companions commented on told him how much of it was a human invention.
And yet...this seems to be legitimate. Which scares him a lot. What has happened to Earth (or Heaven!) that they need to meet special criteria to go to Heaven instead of the other way around?]
And what happened to Earth to warrant this?
no subject
You're asking an awful lot of big questions for a guy that didn't even give me a name yet.
no subject
That's because our angels seem to have different ideas of what to expect of human souls. I don't keep my name a secret here; it's Enoch, exactly as you see on your tablet.
no subject
Wait, not that Enoch. Right? With the famous grandkid?
no subject
...I'm afraid I wouldn't know about my grandchildren.
[He has to pause, too, swallowing to push back the pangs of guilt at leaving them to think he had died, only to not be waiting for them in the afterlife, either.
But wait - how many children under his real name? These are his oldest memories. He can barely recall his own family aside from names and vague faces.]
Is that all the one you refer to is known for?
no subject
no subject
[He hadn't considered it, but what if this grandchild gives his real name in his lineage because his father was born after everything, not before?
...Lineage, that's how he can be sure! After Dio recognized his name, he's not so quick to assume anyone else who does isn't thinking of him too, and the outrageously high age given fits him too well.]
To be certain, do you happen to know the lineage of the man you refer to? His father's name alone would do.
no subject
[ There's some mumbling here as he tries to dig up foggy old memories, then: ] Lamech? No, that doesn't sound right... hang on, I think my count was off... it went Enoch who begat Methuselah who begat Lamech who begat Noah. I think that's it. I might have the order wrong.
no subject
...Well, I do have a son named Methuselah.
[Or he will have him. Time travel is weird. But he wouldn't doubt for a second that Methuselah's children and grandchildren would inherit some divine ability like he seemed to, himself.
So there it is. It would follow his family, somehow, this doing of significant things.]
...and if it was Jared who begat Enoch, then I must be the same person.
[There's a little bit of a nervous laugh, stifled.] It seems it's in my blood now, to never be ordinary again.

I am so sorry, this notif got buried!
no worries!
