So, right, that guide. Be inside before lockdown, don't stay overnight at food restock points, don't travel in large groups... Oh, the census linked at the end tells him the shark kicked it barely two weeks in, though. Must have been having trouble on his own. Somehow.

Bester was out when Xanxus lost consciousness. Alo wasn't. That could reasonably be the difference. ... Not that they've determined yet whether they'd actually been brought here around the same time. It just.. seems likely, considering.

He's weak.

[It's not spoken with any sympathy, so it should be clear the meaning's more "useless" than "injured". His box animal's smaller, now. The flames and armor are gone. To say it's become a regular liger might still be overestimating its power by a lot. ... At least it is a liger. The flames used hadn't been changed. He must have been torn from Xanxus' guns, rather than brought out again by anyone else. So on that note.]

Everything else is gone.

[His X-Guns, mainly. His own flames, as well. His ring.. isn't? But it seems incapable of calling Bester back inside.

... And his watch broke. Was it broken before? Oh well. He wasn't interested in those rules, anyway...]

[ Yes, yes it does. But maybe it's for the best. With all the nerfs the poor thing would probably just be a floppy fish for half an hour and then die. ]

Still nice to have 'im, I'd bet. Extra warmth, too.

[ That should be pretty big for Xanxus. Especially considering how cat-like his boss is and all that frostbite scar tissue. ]

[Is that sound dismissal, or agreement? ... Maybe it's both. He doesn't exactly need to deny his closeness to Bester, with someone who's seen it firsthand. Their animals are pretty much extensions of themselves, after all. But let him save some face-- he still has too much dignity to admit he's planning to use the cat as a blanket.]

[ Too bad. Because Squalo's totally going to go down memory lane and reminiscence about some mission in Turkey that ended with Xanxus waking up with several cats sleeping on him and how hilarious that was in addition to the fact that he didn't even get angry. Guess cats always got the special treatment. ]

[ It's just like old friends talking about fun times on the phone, except all the talking is done by only one of them. ]

[Cats do have an advantage over people when it comes to gaining his tolerance: They don't talk.

But, well, there's always exceptions. Whether it's because he's not within reach, or because his voice is too loud to really call it talking in the first place, Squalo can continue for as long as he wants. Who knows, maybe Xanxus will even keep listening.]

[ Well, cats do love warm places. Xanxus' normal body temperature is probably higher than the average person's, so, you know. They're just flocking to heat up their butts. ]

[ Either way, Squalo was going to keep the chat going as long as it took, until he finally passed out and then it was replaced by the sound of hideous snoring, but he'll be back at it as soon as he wakes up and until he finally shows at Xanxus' door. ]
