[Stephen lets out a shaky breath. Let John explain it to him. Let John be the one to explain that whatever Miller does to them is going to come before they're put back in contact with the outside...if they're put back in contact.]

Tower?

[Well, if that doesn't give away the answer...]

... No. I know I gotta go through those reports later. But let me take a guess. More psychological torture? Pretty sure the people freaking out here were conditioned to.

cw: mention of torture/mutilation

[John's silent for an uncomfortably long moment as he works out a response. He won't force Stephen to deal with that.]

Psychological torture was a component, yeah. But there were physical things, too. Surgeries.

Mutilation.

I dunno it'll get that bad, but we're gonna need to work together more than ever. Some people might not be able to do much, depending on what happens.

Surgery, huh?

[Then that makes "the tower" the same place Angel had told him about. Maybe not with too much detail, but...]

And I take it you never got a chance to perform one on Miller, or we wouldn't be trapped here right now. Your point still stands, right? We play along, we get out? Or am I missing a faster option?

[Somewhere in the midst of this conversation they're all pretending isn't about him, Stephen gets up and starts pacing his cell, arms crossed tight, hands tucked against his sides hard enough to hurt a little, reminding him that he can feel them.]

That's the gist of it, yeah.

[But by the time he'd been given the tablet in the tower, he was barely able to keep a grasp on reality.]
