[ Rhys awkwardly sprints off to the small bathroom, dunks his head in the sink, and lets the water pour over his head. It's not the shocking cold he usually resorts to in order to snap himself out of this state, but it's something. Something that's his, something that makes him feel less pathetic.

The blurred Rhys-shape stumbles back to semi-visibility, shaking but relatively quiet. ]

M'talking to them, to anyone. Everyone. Don't care who, just. Talking. Good.

[ Loud, yes. Screaming, no. Progress, sure. ]

[devoutish]

Good.

[Alfie mutters when he sees Rhys move off to the bathroom and hears the water running - he can't see what he's doing, but he can guess. Then when he comes back, he repeats a little louder:]

Good, yeah. Talking. Is it helping?

[headjacked]

It always does. Mostly always.

[ As non-coddly as Alfie is, their first interaction is burned into Rhys' mind, carrying over forever and always. Shmoopy, sure. Alfie doesn't need to be told. ]

You do too, with... w-your. You're you.

[ Or maybe he does. ]

And I'm an impatient bastard.

[A wry joke, but also true?]

Y-you are, but it's part of what I like about you. Direct. No nonsense, ever.

[ Rhys sucks in some air, holds his cool robot hand against his forehead. Breathe, collect, speak. ]

And you still... care.

[devoutish]

About you, I do, yeah. Ridiculous lad that you are.

[headjacked]

Pfft. I'm not ridiculous, other people are just -- just too serious.

[devoutish]

It's a bit of both.

[ Sniff. ]

[He snorts, and for a moment it sounds like he's going to go quiet, but then he speaks up again.]

You're gonna be all right?

[headjacked]

Think -- th-think I gotta. For you, Angel, Beckett, Enoch, Dr. John - Everyone who cares. Even if it's really freakin' hard.

Yeah. Yeah, I will; I'll be all right.
