I'd say that you shouldn't say plans like that out loud, but. I assume they've got cameras too, so it won't really matter.

It'll inconvenience them, either way, if they've got to clean it up and all.

[He's also been considering trying to bit himself bloody somewhere to mix blood in with the soap for added mess and color to follow.]

If that's all it takes, I think we can rule that they're magic spiders. Only witches are allergic to soap and water.

So what do you think's going to happen? I was thinking of setting up some kind of betting pool.

[There's a flicker of a smirk on his lips. Ah, humor at the gallows. It's the best way to manage, really. He sobers at her question, though.]

I think it's a bad idea to start working ourselves up over that. Maybe let's think about what we can look for and do once we're out. I like the generator idea. What else?

It's less about working ourselves up and more about preparing, but okay. Um - doors. Fuse boxes. Other wiring. Windows to look out of or signs on walls. Hatches? Vents? Anything that would betray a structural weakness or potential power source.

[John doubts there's much that any of them can do to prepare for potential torture outside find a place inside their heads and hide there while it's happening. It's part of the techniques he'd been trained on before being sent to Afghanistan.]

Clocks, maybe, to get a better read on time. One of the problems with places like these, you start to lose track. Makes you more vulnerable. Probably want to keep an eye out for anything we can use as tools. If this is some sort of medical facility where Mr. Miller's planning to treat us, then there will be equipment we can use.

With you about stealing scalpels, though. I assume there'll be scalpels. They seem like the in thing for sick mothereffers who want to play doctor.

This isn't exactly a private conversation. Anyone else listening in might not have your experience.

Scalpels are nice. Barring us getting that lucky. Or that unluck... Even something like tweezers or a syringe could come in handy. Even a stethoscope might be good. I'm wondering if this place is like any of the other white rooms we've been in. I don't hear any breathing or pounding on the walls.

Steal literally anything you possibly can seems like the best policy. You know - going full bandit? Mmmaybe with less shooting. Maybe.

And don't jinx it. Breathing walls would make this even worse.

If there's a gun, I am definitely stealing that.

Right, though. They might weaken us before they take us. Can you think of anything we can do to get around that mechanically?

Digistruct an army of loader bots to obliterate them before they can weaken us? I know a guy, but I'll need to make some calls.

Are loader bots, like... machines loaded with guns and ammunition?

Well - most Hyperion robots are loaded with weapons and ammo, so I guess so. But they're named that because they were originally used for heavy lifting - loading cargo and stuff? Additional variants more suited for combat came later. My bunker was guarded by a significant number of them, so they were obviously very effective. And kinda cute.

Cute like Dumpy's cute? [Look, John appreciates robots, but there are objective standards on cuteness levels here. This is also incredibly distracting, which is good.]

What? No, totally different kind of cute. Dumpy is made by Atlas, their aesthetics are completely different. They tend to prefer curved surfaces, whereas we go for angles and yellow paint. Loaders are big and blocky and stompy. And they talk!
