It sounds like someone with MN Poisoning. John can't see into the cell, but he can hear the coughing coming from nearby, followed by the sound of spit hitting the floor. He's been doing his level best to just keep his mind blank and not sink into memories and despair.

"Drink water while you can," he advises. "We might be here a while yet, and you're gonna want to keep as hydrated as you can with that poisoning."

Water? There's a bathroom, isn't there? He supposes he can drink out of the toilet but he's not sure how much good it'll do.

He takes a few more moments to hack up blood before crawling over to his bathroom and drinking from the toilet. Its messy, but at least by the splashing John can tell his at advice has been taken.

That sounds... unpleasant.

"This is Dr. Watson. Whoever you are over there, can you tell me what your cell looks like? Maybe there are some differences from mine. Might tell us something."

Once done drinking from the toilet, he moves to sit closer to John's voice. The water helps but doesn't eliminate the cough completely. At least he isn't coughing up blood any more.

Is his cell any different...? No, he's pretty sure they all look the same from where he's sitting. That was pretty standard for this place.

He shakes his head, and then in case John can't see him taps out "no" in morse code,

It takes a long moment for John to parse the tapping as a form of communication. He furrows his brow.

"Has something been done to you? Can you speak?"

That means John gets the morse, right? He still doesn't get how people don't understand his codes. He taps out a response.

I do not talk.

Brian.

Bloody hell.

"You may need to talk here, Brian. I can understand what you're tapping, but if I get taken away, I don't know how many other people could translate for you."

Don't doubt his conviction to staying silent John.

But have you considered, Brian: Your conviction is stupid.

John doesn't particularly want to waste the time or energy for that argument.

"Did they take your clothes and supplies, as well?"

Not to him it isn't. But that's how a lot of things work with him.

"Is it blood you're coughing up from the poisoning?"

Maybe they can use that. Miller and Eve might be more sympathetic jailers than the Prophet cultists had been. Well... Eve, at least.

No. It is normal.

"You don't have your medication here." Even better.

John raises his voice, but it's not in a panicked or angry shout, just trying to draw attention. "Mr. Miller, Brian Thomas is being denied access to necessary medication. I'm requesting an immediate correction to this or I'd like to elevate a complaint to the Admin that you are failing to comply with basic laws governing the treatment of prisoners with medical conditions in this country."

He coughs again and, though John can't see it, shakes his head. Miller won't respond to anything, he's the biggest douchelord or whatever it was notTim called him.

I will be fine.

Eventually.

John holds off on responding to Brian for a good minute, then repeats a variation on his demand to Robert Miller. When that receives nothing, he internally snarls. The anger is good. Anger is motivation. "You'll only be as fine as he lets you be is the problem. And if that means withholding your medication, that's not really that fine.

"Is there anything at all you can remember about getting dragged own here?" John doesn't have anything to offer, but if anyone else does...

*He patiently waits for John to finish yelling at Robert Miller. It won't do any good but he understands.

He shakes his head to the question, then taps out a response.*

No. I was sleep.

"Yeah. Me, too." John sighs in frustration. "If it's everyone with the lines, at least we've got company. D'you have red eyes, as well?"

Yes. All red. You?

[jumpthegun]

"No, I was pushed. I've just got the lines. My eyes are fine." He's not sure what that actually means, though, and whether or not it's going to have an effect. "Surprised Mr. Miller didn't segregate us more on that."

May be it doesnot mat ter.

"It seemed to matter when we were outside. I didn't have anything taken from me or feel compelled to take anything from other people."

*Oh, right, that happened. Hm.*

Then it is something we have not noticed?

John frowns at that. There's a lot that they might not notice.

"It sounded like you were drinking out of the toilet. D'you not have a sink?" Maybe that's the difference for them?

I have. It was closer.

*And easier to reach when he was still unsteady.*

"Maybe... stick to the sink once you've used it once?"
