[He's not going to believe him. But...will he ever have another chance to talk to him without any nervousness at all? Aside from his own, of course. He keeps a healthy distance between them automatically. Memories lacking or no, he hasn't moved closer.]

You don't have all your memories, that's the easiest version to explain. You'll likely regain what you've lost in a few days.

Yeaaaaahhhh, that's convenient, and a cliche.

[ He yawns theatrically, then paces near the pit. Still dangerously close to an ever-expanding void. ]

It's the truth - and so is the fact that the hole you're lingering near will gain nearly a hand-breadth in size soon. You'd best move before that happens. I nearly fell in for it myself, not long ago.

[Sleep deprivation's got nothing on the desire to protect other people in immediate danger. If only he had this kind of focus all the time.]

All right, I admit I didn't think about...how I was measuring it. But even if you don't use it for your standard measuring you can estimate how far across your hand is, I assume?

And, ah...you...can't be serious.

[ Rhys coughs loudly, as if that's enough to distract from grammatical fuckups. He purposefully leeeeeeans over the pit and looks back, testing Enoch's reaction. ]

You're supposed to wake up before you hit the ground, right? I always do.

[And Enoch starts forward, a hand partly outstretched to stop him until it becomes clear he's not going to be dropping himself in just yet.]

This isn't a dream. I know it sounds ridiculous, but please believe me- this is real in some form or another.
