If the Albino's down there, I'm suing for copyright infringement.

[House eyes the clown warily, knowing he really shouldn't draw attention, but he can't help it. The pop culture draws him as much as the pit. Not to mention it's a distraction. The doctor is down on his knees, marking where the floor meets the wall with a stick of charcoal.]

We're here 'til we die or they kill us.

[He twirls the fireplace poker and cheerfully walks up to House.]

What'cha doin' there, Doc?

[The doctor tenses as the Joker approaches, but he wills himself not to present too tempting a target. They've worked together before. This is fine. It should be fine. His jaw is still aching from where Stephen punched him, and House doesn't want to add to that particularly. He stays down on his knees and points with his charcoal along the path he's taken. There are two long, straight lines. The one House is currently working on and one that's two feet in front of that and stops where the line House is working on begins.]

Demarcating the walls. They're pulling back, bit by bit. Two inches every fifteen-ish minutes. Wanna see if that speeds up.

[And he wants to know where the boundaries of the room are so he knows it's not some infinite expanse he's stuck in.]

It's awfully nice of 'em to extend the walls when they widen the pit, isn't it?

If it were me, I'd have kept the walls still, let people deal with the floor giving way under 'em, you know? Get people to sacrifice each other to the pit to stop it or else everyone dies. HAH!

[He taps the wall with the poker.]

[That gets a reflexive roll of House's eyes.]

Lucky us, it's not you. And we passed the point of having everyone jump in at once with the morons who already chucked themselves in one at a time. The pull from that thing isn't that strong.

[Yet.]

Doubt "sacrificing'll" do anything to stop it moving. It hasn't changed the rate of increase, yet.

Oh, p'shaw, what kinda cosmic horror wants willing food?

[He peers at a spot on the floor, below House.]

Hey, did the floor just move again?

[House frowns looking down to see where the Joker is looking.]

The floors don't move. It's the walls and the pit.

[He thinks... Is there something he missed? The doctor double-checks the line against the wall he's made, reaching down to feel the corner, just to be sure.]

[Joker grabs House by the back of the collar and slams him down face first against the floor.]

[Having his hand on the ground helps to brace House to some extent, but he isn't actually expecting that level of sudden violence when he hasn't done anything recently to piss the Joker off. He still goes down hard with a grunt, and the floor smells, tastes and feels like metal. House face cracks against the floor, and a momentarily debilitating pain sears across the bridge of his nose and through his face. Well, wonderful. He needed a broken nose.

Asshole.

House struggles instinctively for a few seconds before going still. If the Joker wants him down, he'll stay down for the moment, panting shallowly through his mouth. His voice is more sarcastic than he should probably dare to be as he sneers at the other man.]

Yep! Definitely metal. So glad we got that cleared up.

[He really doesn't like House.

In fact, House is probably the person that he hates the most here, topped only by Stephanie Brown, and then it's a close contest. But that doesn't mean that he's about to sit idly by and watch him get pulverised.

One thing he's good at is moving silently and swiftly, which he does now, aiming to get up behind the Joker to try and grab him in a headlock and pull him off.]

[Joker grunts and opens his arms wide as if in surrender, but doesn't drop his weapon.]

Hey, don't get angry at me, buddy, the Doc is the one who didn't say please!

[House pushes himself up slowly with a pained grunt and looks around to see who the other man is talking to. Bucky is one of the last people on his list of potential saviors.]

What are you even talking about?

[Bucky doesn't let up on his headlock, tight enough to keep Joker secure, but not enough to actually do any damage.]

Somehow I don't care who started it.

He started it.

[Joker hooks a thin finger towards House.]

He didn't say please when he asked me to forgive him for lying...

...

I'm pretty sure I owed him a beating for somethin' else, too, you know how it is around here.

[With the Joker being forcibly restrained, House is, perhaps, more petulant than he should be. His voice goes high, mocking, nasally as the doctor tilts his head forward and pinches his nose to stem the bleeding. It hurts like unholy hell, but one thing at a time.]

Oh, please, Joker. Please forgive me! You're just my bestest buddy. How could I ever have don't that to you? Golly!

Stop it.

[That's a growl towards House. He isn't going to stand for the Joker attacking people, even people like House, but it's obvious that the idiot doctor is hardly innocent here.]

Keep taunting and I'll let him go, and I won't step in next time.

[Joker hangs limply in Bucky's grip and laughs.]

Is standing here all day what you wanna do? Hm? Is saving House from a punch in the face really worth the effort?

[House is wise enough to start pulling his pack on so that he can stand up. His nose is still bleeding, but that can be dealt with later. He should get away from these two. The problem is, the Joker might just follow him. His tone turns moderately more serious as he looks toward Bucky.]

He's not the first, he's not the last. Get it out of your system, Chuckles? If yes, fine. Let him go. If not, I'm just gonna go play in that corner. You two can have fun together.

I don't really care if he gets punched in the face when he deserves it, but there's enough going on here that attacking without reason isn't something I'm gonna stand by and let happen.

[If Joker says he's not going to go for House again then he will let him go, but he'll be ready to grab him again if he has to.]

He always deserves it.

[Pause as he flexes his shoulders somewhat.]

If you're gonna stay could you shift your arm just a wee bit? I'm getting a cramp here.

[House remains silent for the moment, not refuting the observation, just eyeing Bucky and wondering what his response to that will be.]

[Bucky doesn't shift his arm, but neither does he argue with the point that House always deserves a punch.]

Pretty sure a lot of people would say the same thing about you.
