[This is stupid. John's well aware it's stupid, but he can't help asking a question that's been gnawing away at him for more than a week now.]

How tall is everyone? I've been wondering, meeting with different people here, what the spread of heights might be. Among other things. If you aren't sure on specifics or if you don't know the measurement system, I can give you an idea of how to compare units you might be familiar with.

Well, I've pissed him off enough. I'm not surprised he's after me, honestly. Might be more surprised if he weren't. We've traded threats.

There are ways to find out that don't involve directly asking.

I'd suggest you care about Magenta less, but that's a lost fucking cause, in it.

The Joker was able to get to Magenta because no one cares about him. If thinks someone does, he'll be more likely to stay away from the Joker.

And if you have suggestions, I'm all ears.

Mm... I'll see if Magenta knows anything. We didn't exactly chat about how the Joker commissioned him. I'll let you know if I figure anything out. Might just be I'm the one who'd pissed him off most recently, in all honesty. Chased him off when he was going after Sherlock.

Is he still going after Sherlock?

[It'd be useful to know how quickly he moves on - either because he's found reason to drop the grudge, or simply out of boredom.]

If he is, he's been very quiet about it. I'm also not sure why he would have put the hit on me instead of-

People used to kidnap or hurt me to get to Sherlock. That's a possibility, certainly.

Yeah, but he did provoke the Joker pretty immediately after I woke up from the dead last time.

Someone he trusts told him to do something stupid to get my attention. It worked.

Not his brother. His brother hasn't been here long enough for that. Your wife?

It was before all of us were here. In memories. He remembered to do it. [Alfie's not wrong, but John can obfuscate with the truth in this instance.]

And he didn't think that Norfinbury might put that plan on hold for a bit?

He's never had great timing. At least not when it comes to anything emotional. [He sighs.] Have I mentioned he's an idiot?

You wouldn't have needed to even if you hadn't. I've seen it with my own two eyes.

Anyway. That's the situation with him. He's settled down, at least. For now. [As much as Sherlock is capable of settling.]

Mary being here helps. He loves her like he loves me... probably more. He's nicer to her.
