i don't think its possible to do that. when i'm....normally my entire existance is built around the ark.

But you have had to adjust, to a degree, here. To be at least somewhat diverted from that path.

not really. or, i guess i did? but i didn't really see it as that.

finding the answers to here will help me find the ark, or that's what i usually think. or maybe they're part of what the ark will answer? i'm not entirely sure, but somehow figuring out this place and how we got here will help me get to it.

That is logical considering that the object of your search is in your own world - if we give full credit to that theory. To return there would be the first step... do you think, that the fact that you were still driven to return means that return is possible? That something was still calling you, reaching for you?

i'm not really sure if the ark resides in any world.

*It might not even be a thing. Hopefully that makes it more of a concept and not something that doesn't exist.
If it was in any one world, it was probably in the Operator's.*

i don't know. i think i would feel that way even if i knew there was nothing back there.

i die after i get back, after all.

*He didn't really want to say that last part. Oops.*

What?

[He types that before he thinks, before he even completely digests Brian's words. He'd been chasing reassurance - whose, he's not even sure, look at the pathetic duo that they make right now. But this cracks through everything he's tried to build up, and it leaves him lost, feeling like he's treading water, suddenly sinking.]

How? When? How do you know?

Tim told me, both of them. he was chasing me and i ended up here before it ended. but apparently after that...or if i don't come here, i don't know how that works...he corners me and a fall to my death.

if its possible to go back and remember this place hopefully i can avoid it, but that might require Tim remembering too. that's another thing i don't know how it works. this place is too confusing.

But how can you simply die, without having found what you were meant to? He must be mistaken. He is still mostly human - there are things he cannot perceive, surely.

i don't know...but Tim did say the Operator took my body. i've seen it do that to other people's bodies. no idea what happens to them. maybe it gives me a further chance

i used to think that if i helped Tim get to the ark it'd be worth it, but having been here with them...the non-masked one would never even try.

*Stupid Tim :\*

He took your body. Yes. That is more understandable. He must have some purpose for

[Abruptly he stops. There is something wrong with his reasoning here, an he can't put a finger on it, and he's already afraid.]

He was fighting himself, the unmasked one. He never truly understood what was happening to him, I think. What he'd been given.

no, he didn't. and he didn't want it. i guess i can't really blame him...but it made things harder

I admit, I've given up on teaching people to understand long ago. They either do or they do not. In the long run, it's better to detach yourself quickly.

in a way i did

now...well, it doesn't matter if he's dead.

*He'd like to talk to Tim, but that would probably end badly for both of them. It might be better that Tim isn't around for this relapse.*

You'd think so, wouldn't you? And yet I find myself having some of my most difficult conversations with the dead. It is... exhaustingly human business.

[personal profile] 0thingsonmymind 2017-04-05 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
do you mean dead like vampires and ghsots and whatever else your world has or just completely dead people?
bookofnope: (weight of a bygone world)

[personal profile] bookofnope 2017-04-09 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
People who are gone. One way or another. Not even dead, perhaps, just... people who are past answering us, except in our own echoing heads.

*That's weird, right? It sounds kinda weird (and kinda sad), but he doesn't really know what counts as 'weird' for people anymore.*

ah, okay
