I got my memories back on 211, then an anomaly ate me on 213, right after we left to start traveling.

[Zack didn't really ask the second part, but he figures it helps to know what happened when.]

Not sure what my loss is yet, though. Not entirely. I feel like maybe it's keeping me from shutting my mouth when I want to, but everybody else is blurting out their fears too, so I can't tell how much is that and how much is an extra layer of crap on top I have to deal with.

[His tone is bitter and frustrated. Some rustling comes through as he gets up to move, but not much else. Floating and a lack of feet means no sound against the floor.]

Hard to say then. [ Though the more he does think on it, the more it sounds familiar. ]

I have heard of times when people couldn't help but tell the truth before though when they came back, so maybe it is. But like you said, you won't know until this lets up and who knows when that will be. It might be a day or for all we know, it could be a week. I'm banking on a few days though.

[ But that's... more than enough time to do some damage. ]

I'm purple and I'm made of grapes.

[He lets that sit for a moment as he drifts into the morgue proper. The soft sounds of the little observation windows sliding open and shut can be heard.]

Okay, I can lie about that. It has to be more specific if it's something like that.

[Then, more softly:] Ugh, these bodies are creepy like this.

More specific, huh.. So, it'd have to be something you'd usually lie about. -Not that I'd ask you to tell me, but you know. Come to think of it, it probably wouldn't count as a lie then anyway.

[ This is actually.. a lot harder to think of a solution for than he first considered. But.. who knows. Maybe something minor will slip for him instead of something major.

~~Or so he might wonder until he sees that wall of text later.~~ ]

The morgues... really are pretty creepy though. I've never stayed overnight at any of them, but I don't think I ever want to. You got a plan of where to go after this? Meeting up with anyone?

Hmm.

[It's a quiet noise of thought. There's some stuff, things he obfuscates for trolling or jokes, things he downplays because he doesn't want to get into it. The latter holds a bit more weight here, with as much as he's been letting out, but it's harder to tell yet if it's by a loss or just the current weirdness.]

[The noise of the shelf windows continues in the background. He remembers most of these, but he's checking for unexpected revivals or unexpected shuffles along the way. Nothing unusual yet.]

I did the first time I died. I didn't know I could then, but I'd heard what happens to people who try to stay overnight, so I was scared as shit an anomaly was going to pop up and dissolve me. Didn't help that I couldn't even talk to cut the quiet, so I tried to distract myself with other stuff. But I made it to morning fine, so it seems like this is just a thing that happens sometimes.

But yeah, I'm heading south to meet Ginger. She made me a thing forever ago and I need to finally go get it.

Oh... Yeah, Ginger. She likes to sew all kinds of stuff for people. Never asked her for anything, myself, but I've heard she's good.

[ He's kinda impressed she even manages to find the resources around here to sew up things these days. But then again, Davesprite did say he requested it a while back... ]

What'd she end up making for you?

This sock thing for my tail. I've been getting by wrapping it up in this curtain I found early, but it's kind of annoying compared to something specifically made for it, you know? I figure I can swap to using the curtain like a cape for my wings. The feathers keep from from... freezing...

[His voice trails off just after the slide of another viewing window. He swallows thickly, then manages,]

I found Tifa.

[ For his... tail. Well, that's a new one if he's ever heard one, but well. He's heard stranger things at this point, so he takes it pretty well in stride with a hum and a nod that can't be seen. Is about to say something more but then... Well, then... ]

...I see. [ There's a soft touch to his tone. No matter how divided they'd been as far as ShinRa went, it hadn't changed the fact that he'd considered her a friend if not a distant one as time had gone on and they'd fallen out of contact. She was tough and strong, he'd reasoned. Had braved facing Sephiroth, too, after all. He doesn't say anything more for a minute or two. ]

Knowing her, she didn't take things lying down. [ Didn't and she's not gone. He keeps needing to remind himself of that. Steph confirmed it. She did.

Still doesn't make him feel any less sick knowing how many people are barely hanging in there these days. ]

Didn't know she was gone.

[It's a kind of quiet shock to his voice.]

Obit must have gone up after I died the last time. She... I didn't know her well, but I got these gloves from her. [An audible breath.] I didn't get to pay her back.

... Gimme a few minutes. I'll check the rest of these and get pictures for the records.

I don't think she would have minded either way. [ Zack hums softly. ] I knew her from my world. We traveled together here for a while.

[ Before they'd split off, but he'd thought she'd be safe. She'd been with friends for a while since. But it seems it doesn't matter who you travel with or what you do, does it. Not in this place. ]

..Anyway, take your time. Not like I'm going anywhere. You.. want me to send you an update of the list afterward?

[ In case he dies, too, might be too morbid to say. But the more people holding onto collected information to share, the better, right? ]

[It's a short stretch before he answers again, the intervening moments spent peering into the remaining drawers. Once that's done...]

Looks like Tifa is the only new one. Still kinda feel guilty I couldn't hold up my end, even if you said she wouldn't mind. I only talked to her a couple times, but she seemed really nice, you know?

[It's more than he meant to say, but at least it's nothing bad.]

I'll take a copy, sure. Can't hurt to have around.

[ Nothing bad, no. Even if it still hurts, better to speak well of the people lost than hurt from it, right? Or try to. ]

She was, yeah..

But- yeah. Alright. I'll send it to you soon then. Might as well give myself something to do in the meantime. Maybe it'll help deal with... this whole thing.

[ Or not at all considering the hot water he's going to be in, but. Can't say he didn't attempt to be hopeful, right? ]

[Davesprite sighs, soft and brief.]

Sometimes all you can do here is keep working toward a goal. But I'm gonna hang up and let you go before this gets any more depressing and we say something we don't want to.

[He's said too much of that already elsewhere.]
