[network] @whatisthis; morning 212; video [open]

[ The message goes up early in the day, almost immediately after Castiel wakes up. He's careful to hold his tablet the correct distance away and have it pointed at him before he starts recording - this is important, and he doesn't want anyone to be sidetracked by his confusion regarding these devices. ]

Those of you who stepped into the role of this town's Prophet last night; I need you to tell me what the beings with lights in their mouths looked like to you.

[ It's a demand as much as it is a request. He has to know if the others were being made to kill angelic effigies, immediately. Facial expressions are still something he has to make a conscious effort to preform most of the time, but even with his body language at its usual formal-neutral, there's a noticeable undercurrent of rattled desperation to his tone. Clearly the dream didn't treat him well. ]

Hm? [Kid first feels the bandage at his eye and finds nothing, then pressing his fingers to his mouth--he wipes the small stain away quickly, frowning.] It is nothing. Not new.

It looked very much like the kishin, formed from the collection of too many innocent human souls. [Kid swallows, glancing away from the camera.] It does not typically have that many functional eyes.

[Castiel is definitely correct in being concerned and Kid should probably cafe a little more, but he can't be bothered to.]

You have heard the name? [That gets Kid's attention, and he leans into the camera, curious.] In my world, one is able to become a kishin by consuming too many innocent souls. While it is common and accepted practice for Weapons to consume corrupted souls of those pre-kishin they have faced in battle, it is strictly forbidden to consume an innocent human's soul. While this allows one to gain more power, it is an unforgivable sin.

This is the most basic definition, of course. And the Kishin itself--it had become so powerful in the past only my father was able to contain it. He skinned it alive and locked it beneath the school, binding his own soul to the location to prevent the kishin from ever being free again. [Kid nervously fiddles with stay hairs by his ear, frowning.] We failed to stop the kishin's revival. The creature I saw looked very much like the kishin I saw briefly beneath the Academy, before waking up here.

Asura is malevolent. [Kid looks and sounds young, but there's the hint of something older in his tone. Anger and fear of the creature that is far beyond his years.] Pre-kishin may not initially have malevolence as their intent, but I am certain that the kishin Asura most definitely means harm.

I am human here. I imagine you are referring to at home-- [Kid nods slowly.] My father is Death, one of the Great Old Ones and the god of death. As his son, it stands to reason that I am also not human. In the future, I will take his role as the next god of death.

My full name is Death the Kid, but please--call me Kidirectly.

[That reaction from Castiel confuses him. It isn't that Kid hasn't been treated as such in the past, but to be treated so politely here is entirely something different.

As he fiddles with the camera settings to switch it to video, Castiel will be subjected to an uncomfortable close up of the teen's crookedly-bandaged missing right eye and sunken cheeks--but he gets the feed to private and that's what matters!

He's much better at using the mirror.]

This is not the first time I have been told that Death has no children. I am most definitely his child, so we must not come from the same works. Hardly uncommon here.

However...I must admit I am curious what your relationship with Death is in your world, that your reaction is not fear but respect. That is not the reaction I would have expected, not here of all places.
