[Rhys, that's a little sudden and kind of awkward. John blinks slowly at him a few times before clearing his throat.]

Uh, yeah, sure?

[His uncuffed hand slides over the Rhys' other shoulder and John pulls the younger man in for a one-armed hug.]

You're a little weird, Rhys. Not in a bad way, though.

[headjacked]

Maybe I'm not weird, you're just excessively normal.

[ The 'normal' is dripping with the most bored tone he can summon, though the hug commences. The incredibly needy hug, which ends with Rhys nearly collapsing all of his weight on John. ]

Tell Alfie I'm... nevermind.

[Alfie is a sinner. He's not someone to joke with anymore.

And... okay, Rhys. That's a bit more of a hug than John was anticipating. He holds onto the other man feeling just a little awkward as he tilts sideways with the weight.]

Hey, you gonna be all right there?

[ Alfie, though.

Nope, nope, can't think about him. Can't ask about him. He's afraid of the answer.

Rhys pulls back from the hug, still rather wobbly, but upright and maintaining that on his own. Sorta kinda. ]

M-mmmmmhmmm, just might -- might lay down, rest my eye for a few mOH MY GOD HOW LONG HAVE YOU ONLY HAD ONE.

[ EYE. WHY IS THE PIRATE LOOK SPREADING NOOOOOOOOO ]

[The shouting, Rhys. Why does the shouting have to be right in his face?

John winces and leans away.]

Since this afternoon. Sorry.

[It's a reflex to apologize.]

It's nothing to worry about.

[There's a lot to worry about here, like the fact that he's still slowly oozing blood from the eye and the roughly-stitched slice down his cheek.]

'Nothing to worry about', is that what you'd say if I showed up minus an-- another eye? ...I mean I'd be blind at that stage but -- BUT. NOT THE POINT.

[ THE YELLING WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES ]

It's still bleeding.

[John raises his free hand to wipe some of the blood away.]

Well, unless you've got a medical license and surgeon skills, it's nothing you need to worry about. Calm down.

I'm calm, what part of me looks un-calm??

[ The squeakvoice, it has arrived. While eye/limb/bodypart of any sort loss is less of a deal to Pandora and its affiliates, seeing a friend like this still hurts. Call him Captain Hypocrite.

Captain Hypocrite tries dabbing at Watson's face with a clean...ish bit of his fuzzy ducky sleeve. His poor depth perception means it's more of a jab. ]

Who did it??

Ggh! [And Rhys' thoughtful dabbing gets knocked away because that bloody well hurts.] Rhys, leave it. Please.

[He takes a moment to recover before replying.]

One of the sinners. Stein. He took out one of Kid's eye, too.

[But Kid is a sinner... and dead. So.]

[ That name, more than anything else, gets him to stop bashing poor John in the face. It doesn't stop Dumpy from hovering close and trying to mimic the action, though blessedly, it's more of a nudgesnuggle. ]

Of course he's one of them. Hopefully -- hopefully WHEN he dies, it sticks this time.

[With Rhys pulling away, John can turn his attention to pushing at Dumpy. Thank you, flying murder accomplice bot, but he's fine. Really, he's fine. His face is particularly fine.]

He's a sinner. Hopefully they'll all... [John pulls a bit of a face.] It still just doesn't... What is all this for, Rhys? The Prophet and Norfinbury, but what's it doing to get us closer to the exit? Are we meant to get out?

[ See, Watson, he's been hyperfocusing on the Mission, trying to avoid confronting that big, scary question. While Dumpy resettles, snuggling against John's side, Rhys twists nervously at loose strands on his ducky robe. ]

Well.

M-maybe... we'll get a clue when it's over. When they're all gone.

[John's been unable to join in the mission, which is its own frustration. It's given him a lot of time to think.]

Maybe. S'pose we'll see by morning. Can't be many of them left by now, right?

[That's both a comfort and horrifying.]

[ Rhys doesn't answer. He's clearly still awake, but slumping against a wall now. Eye fluttering, limbs heavy, getting a bit dizzy.

He finally nods slightly. Anemia, man, it kinda sucks. ]

[Okay, how much of that blood on you is yours, Rhys?]

Rhys? Hey. Rhys? Talk to me, mate.

[John gives him a little shove.]

Whyyyyyy are we pushing?

[ Talking. Words. He shoves back, if you can call something that weak a shove, and smears shredded hand blood all over John's shirt. This is why you get when you use glass as your primary weapon. ]

Because you're bleeding out. Where are you bleeding out? Just your hands? Rhys' you're fainting. I need to know where to stem the blood.

[headjacked]

Oh. Oh, I'm not, that's probably because Beckett's beennnfffghh.

[ He slaps said hand over his mouth, which is both gross and painful. ]

Beckett's been what? [Because fainting plus blood plus Beckett has very few positive endings for that sentence. John's already in a state, but if that idiot has been doing what John told him not to do. What John's told Angel not to do...]

[headjacked]

Nothing. That's the... blood loss and head trauma talking, that's. All. And even if it was something, it's not going to be something anymore. But there's nothing and nothing matters so it's like, double nothing.

[ He's rambling as fast as can be, struggling to sit up a little. Struggling and failing. He's so tired, Dadtective. ]

Rhys, this is important. Has Beckett been drinking your blood? How much? How is he taking it? Let me see your neck and wrists.

It'd be important if he wasn't going to be dead by the morning!

[ Rhys shies away, pulling his arm in to protect it from prying eyes. His voice is breaking a little. ]

He's one of the sinners, Rhys. It matters. He's... what if he's done something to you?
