[Kid warily takes a step back, the tension not leaving his form though he does slowly drop his hands. Even the people he trusted, today, have been dangerous.]

No. It's from earlier today. [There is no glow from the right side of his face, while the left eye continues to glow brightly. Kid scrubs at his remaining eye.]

What do you think happened?

I'd keep your hands away from your face if I were you. you're gonna wind up making it worse. [He isn't even going to say anything about the obvious shitty attitude, because he can't exactly blame a guy who's missing an eye.]

You gonna tell me who the hell did it and why?

...my other eye, it keeps getting blurry. [The constant refocusing has been a strain, and the muscles are already tired.] I'm trying not to keep touching but that helps it refocus. If I don't, I can't really see.

The person responsible will not repeat their offense, I am certain. [Translation: no.]

Yeah, sure. [he's skeptical about that, buddy. The whole "not a repeat offender" part.] You don't have to tell me anything, but that's a pretty serious injury.

If you need a minute to rest, I can keep watch. Might be better to stick together anyway in case one of the ones with the weird eyes shows up.

[Kid exhales, chest aching where Stein had so kindly stepped on and broken his sternum.] They are already in the guide. People know that there is a risk should they encounter him.

Keep watch...? [He looks Ed up and down, considering his answer before nodding.] There's a house just a ways away. Can't really make it out from here but I've been here before and I know we're close. [He coughs, hard, trying to hide the blood he brings up from the stranger's view. They already had to talk about missing eyes--he wasn't feeling up to talking about much else.] Just a few minutes rest, though--I'd really appreciate it.

I would offer to switch off but I am not certain I am the person you would want keeping watch.

I'm not exactly tired, and compared to you I'm the picture of perfect health. Consider it a favor. Not like I'm doing anything else tonight.

[and keeping watch will help soothe the paranoia that's creeping up his back. He notices the coughing, but chooses not to say anything about it, for now. Asking questions hadn't exactly been met with a lot of straightforward answers.]

Can you make it to he house okay or are you gonna need help?

R-right. Except not dying. [Kid keeps a hand braced against his chest; his other leans against his knees, taking shaking deep breaths.]

I think I'll be okay--I just need a minute. [Yeah. He's kind of a mess.

A minute later, as promised, he stands taller and stands back upright--only to cringe and lean back forward, taking a sharp breath in.]

--Ah, shit. [His voice is just a mumble, quiet.]

[Ed watches this, stood back a step or two. While Kid tries to catch his breath(?) Ed Steps over and crouches down in front of his new found ally.]

Climb on. If you wind up having to stop like that every step you take we're not getting anywhere.
