[House takes the opening immediately, moving to just outside the door and looking back in at them in the dim glow of tablet lights.]

Lock yourselves up, if you can. If not... give me the best head start you can manage.

[And he'll be absconding after that if they don't stop him. Let the crazies work themselves out if they need to.]

[ Why does she feel like she has to kill House? If she lets herself she'll just walk away, just go about her business. She is going to figure this out, dammit. ]

Get out of here, House. Now.

[Zach's hands shake as he looks at House. he clenches his jaw, trying to keep himself from lunging at him. He has no idea why, but the needs to plunge his knife in House's stomach is so strong it's physically painful to keep himself from doing it.]

Please.

[He adds that to Steph's words, feeling like screaming.]

[There's one last moment where he stares into the apartment at them, eyes glowing a cold blue light. He pulls one of the Vicodin bottles from his pocket and tosses it inside.]

Take two each if you can't control yourselves.

[And he's gone, moving as quickly as he can away from the pair. He was almost out on that bottle, but it's almost physically painful for him to give it up at this point, knowing how limited supplies are. But he's meeting with Undertaker. Undertaker is going to trade him an almost full bottle. It will make up for this if he can survive.

How many more are like Steph and Zach tonight?]

[ She keeps her eyes shut until he's gone, trying to work through what her brain insists on telling her.

She doesn't get very far. But she does look up at the bottle of pills.

[Zach snatches the pill bottle away from Steph's hands in a surprisingly swift move, shaking his head.]

I know what you're thinking, and no. Not yet. You're stronger than this.

[ She blinks at her empty hand, then up at Zach. What was she thinking? ]

Don't we have work to do?

[He nods, hard and determined, then takes her hand after throwing the pills away to a corner of the room.]

Yeah.

[ She smiles at him, reassured. This feels right. But that thought nags at the back of her mind. There's a puzzle left unsolved. ]

There should be plenty of people along the tunnels behind us. Let's see how far we can get before the doors lock again.

Kesara is at the chapel. We should try and catch up with her, too.

We should call her. Even if we can't make it that far, maybe she can meet us halfway.

[ She smiles at him, then pulls her hand free to send a quick message on her tablet. ]
