I know. [Watson isn't the only one struggling with this issue; Bruce is just currently more confident than he is logical, and he hasn't considered chaining himself to one spot to ride out the waves of horrifying urges. To kill. It comes and goes, leaving him clear and level-headed one minute, then angry and riled the next.] Did they do this to you?

[To be level with Watson, Bruce squats a half a foot beside the man.] I can get you out. If you stay here, they may try to kill you. They are going to destroy the town.

Even if you let them go.

[John shakes his head.] No. I did it to myself. I'm not in shape to go hunting. [The doctor reaches into his pocket and shows Bruce the remaining tablet of Fentora.] Took two of them. I'd be lucky standing up, anyway. It was stupid. [Another shake of his head. He'd wanted to make himself less dangerous, to ensure that people who came through could subdue him, if needed.

It had worked for Bucky to a point, after all.]

[Too pure for this world, John.] You can't stay here alone, Doctor. It's dangerous. [Without reaching out to take, Bruce inspects the tablet. He can't tell it's exactly Fentora from this far, but he has an idea what it is based on its size, shape, and color.] Don't take anymore of those. [But he curls John's fingers around the tablet to imply John should keep it.]

Your eye--who did it?

I don't want to keep anyone here, either. There aren't really many safe places and the restroom's out of the main line. I've only had a few sinners pop by... and they kept their distance for the most part.

Dr. Stein did this, but it was before the doors unlocked and I knew what their eyes meant. He's mad, Mr. Wayne, properly so. Not just a sinner, but he's got MN Poisoning, mania. The last time he got this way, he lobotomized Rhys. I'm lucky it was just the eye.

[A hard scowl falls over Bruce's mouth. Any vengeful anger he had before is doubled now with the prophet eyes. Just the mere thought of Stein, of others, makes his blood boil.] I'll find him. Someone like him needs to be dealt with.

I still think it's best if you aren't left here. Do you want me to stay with you?

[Not that John doesn't agree, but hearing that from Bruce is...]

No. But... Mr. Wayne, please, you don't have to do anything for me. You've got your hands full.

You're important to us as a doctor, and I'm sure you're important to more than a few here as a person, including me.

I need to search for the Joker and stop him. If I find the ones that did this to you, I will stop them, too.

[jumpthegun]

[There's a warmth that spreads through John at those words. A warmth that probably shouldn't be there when the man's talking about murdering on his behalf.]

Please just be careful. You're important, too. Not just as a superhero, sir. I know the mask and cape come off sometimes. Well, maybe not the cape with this weather. [He offers Bruce a lopsided smile.] Catch some sinners, Mr. Wayne. But take care of yourself tonight, too. There are plenty of other people out hunting who might be able to help you.
