[Sylar's cool attitude is infuriating. He truly is a sociopath, one that wants to destroy Norfinbury and everyone in it. The rational part of his brain knows that latter thought doesn't make much sense, but John can't help the anger and resentment coursing through him. The town would be safe by now if it weren't for men like this.

John wrenches his arm as he throws himself forward, straining to reach Sylar, kill him bare-handed, if he has to.]

You won't last the night. The other believers'll see to that. None of you heretics'll last.

[ Whoa. Sylar's eyebrows raise and he reaches for his tablet again, pointing it at John. Blood is oozing slowly down Sylar's right arm, but he seems to be entirely ignoring it for the moment. ]

Maybe not. Guess we'll see.

And afterwards, we'll see how you all feel about this whole game of Hunt the Heretics. Hard to fight, isn't it? That desire to fix the problem, now that you 'know' what it is....

[ His thoughts turn inward and he regrets bringing up the subject. ]

Well. I think I'll go explore a bit. You sit tight, Doctor.

I am nothing like you. [It's snapped.] We're trying to protect this town!

Protect it through religious nonsense?

[ He'd turned away to head to the door, but he looks back now. He seems like he might laugh at any moment. ]

That doesn't sound like the Dr. Watson I know. It doesn't sound like Sherlock, either. What are you going to do if he turns out to be one of us sinners? You gonna murder him in cold blood?

[That leaves John momentarily silent. Sherlock. If Sherlock is one of them...]

Sherlock is different. If he... if he's got eyes like yours it's for an experiment. He wants to help people. He'd want to protect everything here.

[ That gets a somewhat more sincere-looking smile from Sylar. ]

So it's not entirely overwhelming, then. At least there's that.
