well, m'lord :P
the simple answer is that sburb is a video game
and that sgrub is what my alien friends from another universe call it
i wouldnt get hung up on the video game part!
it is superimposed over the real world
you still use a computer to do things like altering your client players environment
but thats basic stuff

[ Honey, you've got a big storm coming. ]

it gets complicated when you have to create a new universe

[The first thing that Clayton is able to really focus on about this bit of exposition is that Jade is being awfully candid about the situation she's describing. He's absolutely willing to believe her--he's believed a lot of things people have told him about their worlds so far and Jade seems a little too forward to be the trolling type--but Clayton rarely thinks so skeptically of people anyways. His thoughts have firmly centered on a very different implication.]

Do a lot of people where you're from have this game?

oh gosh no!!
there are only a few copies in each universe where it exists
one for each person who is destined to play it
er
i probably should have mentioned all the time-related nonsense
stable time loops, predestination, that kind of stuff
and um....
the planet you live on is struck by a series of meteors that probably wipes out any life on it
so there is lots of incentive to win the game

[ Jade goes from zero to one hundred fast. Buckle up, pal. ]

[It's too good to believe and that's precisely why Clayton chooses to believe her. He'll buy it. He'll buy all of it. Because there's that lingering smidgen of a hope that--]

I don't suppose you're still playing the game right now, are you?

[personal profile] eclecticbassist 2016-01-28 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
almost certainly not!
and even if i was, all of my belongings appear to have been confiscated....
including the frog containing the universe my friends and i made :(

[ She only distantly registers any of this as strange, mostly just the part where a universe is contained. Not the frog, though. ]

[...He shouldn't have gotten his hopes up. Just as stuck as the rest of them--just like whoever took them was somehow able to strip Enoch of his divinity, they've managed to contain someone that literally shapes universes. Clayton would think this was pretty incredible, if he wasn't so disappointed. How could they ever dream of escaping from something so powerful?...]

[Naturally he can't tell Jade. That would be just plain rude.]

I'm so sorry. I would hope they left it wherever they took you from; a whole universe in a frog doesn't sound like something just anyone should be in possession of. [So he sure did just type that sentence in complete sincerity. This is Clayton's life now.] What kind of universe was it?

[...It's like asking about someone's missing child to help them grieve, isn't it? You know, what they're like? Yes? Is he doing this right?]

[ Aw, don't go easy on her; Jade would just be glad to hear that this unbeatable entity isn't an omnicidal manchild. Anyway, she's eulogizing a frog. ]

funny you should say that! the genesis frog is always created by a space player
echidna would not entrust it to anyone else
i never really got to know mine, since she has been raising it
....i should probably mention that i also had a few planets
one of which houses echidna and the frog
they were shrunk to a more portable size, obviously :P
