No but they do have a king. He wears a little crown and sits in judgment.

Here's a better one: the Arishok kills the Viscount of Kirkwall.

If you were hoping for shock and horror, you'll have to try harder; that one I know of. But it's too soon for news to have traveled to... wherever it is that they have mustaches like that.

I could have sworn that was 35 or 36. [Mutters and shrugs.]

Tevinter if the accent hasn't already given me away. And yes, I am a mage. Not a magister.

Is it true you drink the tears of your slaves? Seems a bit too salty for my tastes.

[Dorian's laugh is forced but not very hard.]

I prefer red wine myself. I'm sure some idiot magister somewhere has tested the restorative powers of drinking tears.

Well, it's good to hear the world hasn't changed. I was beginning to fear we were making progress.

What do they say about the Champion of Kirkwall in the future? I'm asking for a friend.

I think people will continue enjoying wine for centuries to come. Abandoning that tradition would be a regression.

You may want to cover your friend's ears. According to Varric Tethras, he did not die at Chateau Haine. It was a good story anyway.

If I died at Chateau Haine, then I'd have no new adventures for Varric to greatly exaggerate, and then where would we be? I can't deprive the people of that.

Are you saying the Champion of Kirkwall didn't fight an army of ogres and fly away on dragonback? I am shocked to hear it and my life would be quite dull without that mental image.

There was a dragon involved... but I imagine it's better when Varric tells it. And makes up lies to make it more interesting.

Very likely so. His romance serial is an atrocity against books but the rest make for interesting reading. Well, at least he can spell.
