Do not worry, you're not the only one who doesn't exactly meet human standards. And, to be honest, canine ears could be quite useful in such a place if they didn't lose their functionality. Hello, Rydia! I'm Jade. Of space. The Witch of Space, if we're going by associative titles.

There's no function to lose-- these things [ the gentlest of ear tugs ] were pretty useless even before I got here. I can move them, though!

[ The furry white ears wiggle a bit, like a dog trying to locate the source of a sound, before perking up and facing forward. ]

You live in space? ... wow, that must be so dangerous, no wonders you sound so relaxed about, well... this place. And- since we're sharing titles: I'm a summoner.

[She smiles looking at her ears moving] Well... at least they're covered in fur, I'm slightly envious- [The woman tugs her hair behind her red ears] mines are costantly freezing here.

[ Well, Rydia isn't wrong, technically, and Jade hasn't been "safe" in quite a while. ]

I am pretty used to danger, yes! But the title is more indicative of mastery than where I came from. Uh--

[ She pulls back her own hair, which is so thick and unruly that a pair of functional human ears is usually hidden from view. ]

This is the pair that I use for hearing and whatnot. These [ another waggle ] don't serve any purpose; I'd call them vestigial, but they are not a genetic trait in my species. Hopefully the fur will make up for the heat lost due to the extra surface area.

[Rydia frowns at her words, she never likes when people mention they're not safe in their world. Not that she didn't have her fair share of problems with the world almost ending twice in less than 20 years but...]

Oh! So it's some kind of genetic mutation? How fascinating! Evolution and improvement sometimes start with traits with no apparent purpose, they may be a bit useless for you but maybe they will serve your descendants well.

Anyway! You're not the only non humanoid person here, there are also two... pointy eared men and a skeleton. And- well, I've only saw some of the local creatures but they're unlike everything I've ever seen- and I know something about monsters- it's... hard to take a normal resident for one of them.

Oh, um-- it is literally impossible to get this kind of thing through natural means. For humans like me, anyway.

[ Aw, what the heck; this (green-haired!) lady is probably familiar with preternatural phenomena. Might as well go for it. ]

Actually, the way I acquired them could be considered "magical". It involved a lot of convoluted nonsense that resulted in my acquiring the title 'Witch of Space'-- and these nifty ears! I used to be quite normal-looking.

I know my way around unusual fauna, too! [ Her dog, for example. ] I even befriended a few before I arrived here.
