Gaia. Somewhat similar to this, and a place where the devices we're currently using aren't anything special. Thought I can't say I've had to deal with quite this much snow for so long, before.

So if you're not used to snow, how is this place similar?

It's not that I'm not used to snow, only that I haven't had to spend quite this long in it. And even less so with only the bare necessities to survive available.

But be it as it may, the snow is hardly the biggest worry here. Much like home, these lands are troubled with monsters.

"Anomalies", I've heard. Can you tell me more about those?

I'm afraid I do not have a lot to tell. But from what I've heard, there are various types, some big enough to devour people. They also seem to be somewhat vulnerable to fire, though no one has found a way to further harm let alone kill one of them yet.

Hmm, I read about the fire incident. Sounds like what we really need is more intel.

You would be correct. This place is especially determined to keep any and all information to itself though.
