[network; audio] @blacksuit; ninja cat; Day 55, late night [open]
[Technically, it's still Day 55 though not for very much longer for how late it is. And the voice that addresses everyone certainly sounds tired, with an edge of irritation that suggests she's not awake by choice right now.
There's also a slightly hushed quality to it, as though she's trying not to draw attention to herself...and, say, let slip that she's not alone right now.]
So, especially in light of all this beacon talk I can't help but wonder. Is hearing things you can never quite get a good look at normal around here or am I already letting the place get to me? I keep thinking I'm seeing a cat out of the corner of my eye and I keep hearing it but I can't find it no matter how much I turn the place over. And it's not even that big a place.
[And then, with just a hint of mischief that suggests she's grown up around slightly morbid senses of humour:]
Still, I guess as far as deaths around here go, clawed to death by a stealth kitty has to be one of the better ways to go. Doesn't mean I'm in any hurry to find out for sure, though.

the cat you think you see or hear might not be there. if that is you hallucinating, it's nowhere near as bad as the time i was.
[You know. Hallucinating that the shelter he found was on fire and all. Cats seem pretty tame in comparison, if she is just imagining it.]

[Well, that puts a new light on the conversation between her and Sephiroth where they'd celebrated the apparent lack of Tonberries. Not that either of them ever had one for a pet but it still suggests bringing things other than people into this place and that's not so reassuring.
Neither is that last part, if she's honest.]
And here I thought I'd hold off on going crazy for longer than this. Might not be bad but it's still pretty irritating.
[Especially for two people trained to respond to the faintest hint of movement. That they haven't ended up hitting each other through reflex already is something of a miracle.]

[Though she thinks indistinguishable voices would have bothered her too, if only because she'd have wanted to find out what they were saying.]

Are you with anyone else? Maybe you should sleep in shifts.

[She's playing towards vagueness, not wanting to highlight how both of them are Shinra trained and to points where even having each other to keep watch could fully override their training. But by being vague, she's hoping it sounds more like that they're just strangers who don't really trust each other yet.]

Not really hearing things
Once I woke up covered in scratches.
They vanished as soon as I left the house, but it was pretty freaky.

I didn't even feel them happening. They were just there.
Tried crumbling up paper to toss in direction of the sound?
The neighbor's cat loved chasing paper balls.
no subject
[Even if it does turn out to end in paper ball being ignored just long enough for her to glance away and miss the movement again.]

[Especially since she always seems to catch the fleeting glimpses of this cat just when she's finally starting to try to relax.]

[ there are voices and whispers that aren't good, of course, but those are usually far more obvious. or they have been in the past. ]
Good idea to ask though, in a place like this it's hard to say what's good and bad.

audio @nvcr
[Cecil's voice is a coo. A jealous coo. Like a dove who has seen another dove driving the latest expensive sports car when all it owns is a clapped out Ford.]
It would be such a comfort to have an invisible little animal friend to keep me company here, you must be overjoyed to hear its comforting meow from just over your shoulder.
no subject
Invisible ones, apparently.]
Believe me, if I could send it over your way, I would gladly. Comforting is not the word I'd use for it.
no subject
I didn't used to be a cat person, but then one turned up in the men's bathroom at the community radio station where I work, and I was smitten from that moment on.
[He misses Khoshekh.]
But if you have allergies or a severe phobia of cats, perhaps you could request to the management that they replace your spectral animal stalker with a dog or mongoose as appropriate.

did your stealth kitty only turn up tonight
or has it been following you around?
because it's probably just the house if it's the former
and it's you going crazy if it's the latter
have fun if it's the latter
no subject
But no, it's only been since we hit up this house. Hopefully that means I get to leave it behind tomorrow when I head out. But if not I guess I can always count on you to comfort me in my madness.
[It's hard to tell without tone but that was definitely sarcasm, in the poking fun at him variety.]

just turn me on to audio and i'll bark real good to scare the cats away
