[network; audio] @blacksuit; ninja cat; Day 55, late night [open]

[Technically, it's still Day 55 though not for very much longer for how late it is. And the voice that addresses everyone certainly sounds tired, with an edge of irritation that suggests she's not awake by choice right now.

There's also a slightly hushed quality to it, as though she's trying not to draw attention to herself...and, say, let slip that she's not alone right now.]

So, especially in light of all this beacon talk I can't help but wonder. Is hearing things you can never quite get a good look at normal around here or am I already letting the place get to me? I keep thinking I'm seeing a cat out of the corner of my eye and I keep hearing it but I can't find it no matter how much I turn the place over. And it's not even that big a place.

[And then, with just a hint of mischief that suggests she's grown up around slightly morbid senses of humour:]

Still, I guess as far as deaths around here go, clawed to death by a stealth kitty has to be one of the better ways to go. Doesn't mean I'm in any hurry to find out for sure, though.

No, that's pretty normal. Stuff like whispering, but only when someone else is talking. The whole place is haunted, obviously.

don't think you're close enough to hear mochi? so. unless there are other cats around. found one place with a lot of cat food and stuff. but haven't actually seen any thus far. just the monsters.

yeah. our pet back home. still weird to see him here but he's also some part of home in all this i guess. big fat furball that he is.

the cat you think you see or hear might not be there. if that is you hallucinating, it's nowhere near as bad as the time i was.

[You know. Hallucinating that the shelter he found was on fire and all. Cats seem pretty tame in comparison, if she is just imagining it.]

Not that I know of, but I don't know about everything that happens here.

That happened to us last night, but it sounded like someone was talking. We couldn't make out any words, though. It gives you the creeps, doesn't it?

yup. not sure if anyone else has theirs, but my older brother already had mochi when i got here so we're stuck carrying him around.

[For all that he might seem to complain and tease the poor cat, Hiro is grateful for some familiarity, some sense of home all the same.]

at least you know it isn't just you? not sure how reassuring that is but hey.

[He doesn't want to wake up anyone, so he's sticking to texting!]
Not really hearing things
Once I woke up covered in scratches.
They vanished as soon as I left the house, but it was pretty freaky.

Nope, and that's the weird thing.
I didn't even feel them happening. They were just there.
Tried crumbling up paper to toss in direction of the sound?
The neighbor's cat loved chasing paper balls.

guess they did.

but, that's true. this place kind of does that. can really mess with you. especially if you stay in the same place too long. you have to keep moving.

[Which is totally just another way of saying it gives her the creeps!]

Are you with anyone else? Maybe you should sleep in shifts.

yeah? good. it also helps if you're not alone. but i know actually finding someone or a group can take a bit longer to coordinate unless you stumble across each other. but you're right. we won't find or learn much if anything if we just stay still. gotta keep moving. keep looking.

Has anything else strange happened?

yeah, i know what you mean. i'm not the best with people most of the time either. but the guys i'm with now aren't so bad. probably wouldn't have survived finding our first monster if they hadn't hauled my ass out of there. even just having one or two other people can help in sharing supplies around and keeping watch at night.

I mean, not to scare you, but yeah that's normal here. You're going ot hear and see a lot of things that don't make sense, but you just have to keep moving forward. This place can be pretty weird.
