[log] Day 046 | Silence in the School Yard [closed]

Characters: Clayton, Dio, House, Miranda, Ellana, Dorian, Beckett, and Brian.
Location Building 29 (aka the Party Shed).
Date: Day 46, evening, probably after lockdown.
Summary: There are a lot of people packed into an equipment shed. There's bound to be friction. Or maybe they'll get along. Sing Kumbaya... Yeah, that's probably not happening.
Warnings: Gross mold lungs, House being his general insensitive self, and so forth. Please note specific warnings in the headers!

[The shed is really not meant for eight full-sized adults. It is meant event less for eight full-sized adults who have only met for the first time that day or even just that week. It's close quarters tonight, but at least the equipment shed has some minor forms of entertainment. There are hurdles, various sports balls, giant mats to potentially sleep on, and the like. Of course, if you make any noise, everyone in the place will be aware of it. Better mind your manners.

Or not. That's always entertaining, and after a day of near absolute silence in the school, most everyone is probably starved for at least a little noise. Something other than that weird piano music coming from more than one piano. One good thing to come of all of this is that they are well stocked up on food. It's a veritable bounty!]

((OOC: This is a mingle style post. Put up a top-level and tag around to others!))

"Mm, her eyes glow in the dark. All she really needs to do is lurk somewhere with very little ambient light to give me heart palpitations." Dorian said, not being literal. "So I thought, what would Sera do? Possibly not the best plan. She put a bees' nest in Cullen's practice dummy once."

But once Ellana had calmed down she'd been amused by Dorian's network post.

Clayton pulls a face. "Naw!" he gasps, casting a more direct look in Ellana's direction. "A whole--yer pullin' my leg. Ain't no way."

"We still don't know how Sera did it without getting stung. I think the bees have some sort of conspiracy." Dorian said, shrugging.

"No kiddin'." Clayton leans back in quiet disbelief. "...Guess it's a good thing her partner 'n crime ain't here t' help again, I suppose. That who Sera is?"

"Yes." That seemed as good a description as any. "Together they put a rock under Cullen's desk and a bucket over Josephine's door. Sera helped Ellana come up with these bee grenades. Sera is... fond of bees. Or she absolutely hates them. I can't tell which."

"Bee..." Clayton's jaw goes slack. It appears that Dorian has broken him a little bit. Give him a moment to process this. "...She got like...some kinda telepathy thing goin' on? Bee telepathy?" A beat. "...Suppose I'd get pretty tired a bees if I'd heard 'em talkin' all the time, too. Lord."

"No, definitely not that. That would be magic and Sera's a little... squeamish about that sort of thing." There's some condescension in Dorian's tone. He pities her for her fear of magic. "It's something she cooked up with Dagna, I think. Dwarves can't do magic but they can do fascinating things with explosives."

What was probably supposed to be a straightforward explanation just makes Clayton infinitely more confused. Or curious. It's hard to distinguish sometimes.

"Dwarves? Like the--" He cuts himself off, realizing almost too late that he's about to pigeonhole someone from a world he's never met into one of his Earth story stereotypes. They're probably nothing like that. "...Never mind. That still leaves the bees, though. Dwarves...like...bees?"

This is all very strange.

[personal profile] whiteknightnecromancer 2015-11-14 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
"No, they like nugs. Dagna is an oddball. She came to the surface to study magic even though she'll never cast a spell herself. Which isn't a small thing for a dwarf. Once they're on the surface they're not considered proper dwarves anymore back in their city." Dagna had Dorian's admiration both as an Arcanist and as someone willing to leave home to follow her dream.

"Sera likes bees and explosions. Dagna likes explosions and magic. They've found some truly fascinating ways to combine those interests."

"'Nugs?'" Sorry, Dorian, but this is all still going way over his head. The explosions and pranks are no longer his main concerns right now. "I...well, more power to 'er I suppose. Bless. I, ah--"

Suddenly, from the other end of the shed, the coughing Clayton has been too distracted to notice is loudly brought to his attention. He flips around, wide-eyed, and immediately groans in exasperation.

"Aw, now..." Clayton turns back to Dorian, brow creased in flustered apology. "--I'm sorry man, we'll talk later. Help yerself t' more rations. Tell Ellana not t' get any ideas."

Without another word, he staggers to his feet and hurries to the other corner of the shed.
