[log] Remember your Honor!! [closed]
Characters: Zack Fair (
heroproceeding) and Tadashi Hamada (
tadashiwashere)
Location O03, THAT HOUSE BY THAT CONVENIENCE STORE
Date: Backdated to Day 30; night
Summary: Zack remains restlessly up, pondering life choices now that he's been reunited with friends from home and has found himself surrounded by even more people than ever before.
Warnings: None aside from maybe possible angst, but we'll see.
They always said to count your blessings, and well. This was definitely one of them. What, when Cloud had finally drifted off to sleep again for the night despite the addition of all the newcomers. Zack would be forever thankful by these people he'd met at Norfinbury. All of them had been patient with the cadet- and if they were uncomfortable with him, they at least didn't disturb him. So many people though...
So many people that had now decided to travel along with him. Not that he minded that. Not in the least. At this point, he could ruefully agree with what Al had said a long time ago. About pulling people together in order to work together and potentially resolve things... Hopefully. But that also meant... It also meant keeping a closer eye on things where before it had been he and Lancer. Both of whom were very capable of taking care of themselves. But now...
Now, as he leaned against the wall by one of the few windows in the house to give himself a breather away from everyone else, he had to wonder how things would go from therein...

Finding the group.... and all of the chaos that went with trying to find food and making sure Hiro had something to eat hadn't left Tadashi a lot of time to actually make the special effort to really talk to Zack in person.
He gave the other man a lopsided smile and stuffed his hands in his pockets, glancing past Zack and out of the window. "It's been a crazy few days, huh?"
That seemed like an enormous understatement, but the past month had been more stressful than almost any other time in Tadashi's life. There was always some new danger to take into account here. It seemed more and more difficult to just... relax and make a friend.

But then rather than drifting off to sleep with his brother, the older of the Hamadas wandered his way. Zack watched a moment out of the corner of his eye before deciding to make contact full on, his own mako eyes slightly glowing in the dimming light. He studied him a moment from ball cap to the sneakers that were likely very uncomfortably damp. Tadashi may not have looked like a fighter, but there was a stubborn willingness that Zack may or may not have been able to appreciate in that moment, knowing he'd gone out looking for Hiro by himself. Retrospect? Kinda crazy. But hey. He'd made it and they were both there in one piece. That had to account for something, right? Zack's eyes returned to looking at Tadashi's lop-sided expression. One of his own befit him at that comment.
"I think crazy's an understatement." Zack chuckled despite himself. Perhaps a bit dryly. With a shake of his head, he continued, "But at least you found your brother. Heh. Looks like you didn't even need my help, huh." Though teasing laced those words, they might have been a soft apology in there somewhere. He really had been distracted by Cloud. He couldn't lie.

"I might be the best guy when it comes to Hiro-tracking." Tadashi offered a careless shrug, even though there had not been anything casual about the ordeal of his search. "Normally I have GPS to help me out, but..."
He took a moment to shoot a glance back toward where Hiro was supposed to be asleep, and dropped his voice slightly. "Just don't tell him about that. He still thinks I just have excellent timing."
Then, because Tadashi couldn't help but notice the glow of Zack's eyes, he narrowed his own eyes and frowned as he scratched his chin with one hand: "Weird question. But are your eyes glowing?"
It had to be asked, okay.

Wow.
Just. Wow.
That was... kinda impressive. How much trouble Hiro must have gotten himself into for Tadashi to do that. Though the how was still questionable... though that question died pretty quickly at that certain look the young man gave him, scrutinizing and...
...Wow. Blast from the past. Wasn't the first time someone had given him that wary eye. Though the question fell differently. Slightly suspicious. But not... scared. Zack... made to curve his mouth into a mild hint of a cheeky smile despite the air suddenly feeling slightly thick around him. "Maybe."
Zack hesitated before turning to fully face Tadashi with hands on his hips and his head cocked sideways. "Standard issue back home. At least when you join the higher military branches." Touching on SOLDIER with a roomful of ears wasn't something he felt like admitting right then... even when many were sleeping. Maybe another time.

That being said, he wasn't counting Zack as a threat just yet. Curiosity was winning out.
"Mind if I ask how? Some sort of chemical treatment?" That would probably pique Honey Lemon's interest, just as much as the medical side of it had Tadashi wanting to press for more information. "Or...?"
From what he knew, eyes were notoriously fragile. He was still impressed every time he heard about some kid getting a tattoo on his eye and not going blind. And here Zack was, looking like he emptied the contents of some glowsticks into his eyes.

Still... At those curious questions... especially when they don't seem posed in any kind of fearful way, Zack couldn't help but smile if only out of the irony that he had had to go to such a desolate place just for one person not to ask him about his eyes without being visibly freaked out for realizing they were different and therefore he was a scary, terrible SOLDIER. Granted, Aerith had found herself fascinated, too, but that was only after he'd told her he was SOLDIER. Not before.
"Something like that." He kinda... vaguely shrugged at that. "Top secret procedure and all that." In other words, search him. He wouldn't be able to tell the full details because they were kinda hush, hush in the first place. Yep. All the same, he played up a slightly warmer smile. "Can't be letting civilians cramp my style, after all." Dumbest and most bogus reason ever, but humor him please.
