[log] The Great Anomaly Round-up [closed]

Characters: OTA (regular characters plus anomalies)
Location: Power Plant
Date: Day 440
Summary: Here! In brief: It's time to capture some anomalies in the Norfinbury power plant!
Warnings: Please add to subject lines.

[The Norfinbury power plant is a large building that is one of the few with reliable electricity. Going inside reveals a warm, metallic interior. Immediately upon entering is a small reception area--there's a door labeled EMPLOYEES ONLY, but you can also go into a door to the right for a small museum-like area intended for young children that explains the basics of thermal energy. Visit the gift shop and get a fun t-shirt!

Entering the employees only area, it gets warmer, though it's far from unpleasant.

Here is where it will happen. There are multiple offices before the hallway opens up into a large, open area with countless shining machines and a sealed off central area. The air in the central area is hotter than the rest of the facility, almost uncomfortable. There's a door requiring a key card to enter the central area, and the door displays a warning: INTENSE HEAT. DO NOT ENTER WITHOUT PROTECTION.

A keycard left by those who have come before sits atop one of the shining machines, ready to be taken and used.

This is the place where the anomalies will be trapped. Where the groups converging on the power plant will attempt to trap the anomalies. Messages have been put up around town, trying to draw them here. It's now or never.

Perhaps you're an anomaly that's already here. Perhaps you're one of those seeking to capture them. Perhaps you're one of the late and unexpected arrivals. In any case, enjoy the free-for-all. There's technically a plan, but mice and men might have something about things that go awry here.]

[Sherlock feels more alive now than he has in months, there's the thrill of the chase and an actual concrete thing that they can do to make things potentially better, it's amazing.

It carries him through the initial meeting with this particular anomaly and lets him ignore the creeping feeling under his skin.]

Good thinking, John, those exceptional vines may be able to be utilised as something like a lockpick. So, Flynn, what do you say?

Huzzah!

[Flynn hums. He's still a bit miffed about last time but he's never been one to hold a grudge, especially with friends. And they did call him here because they wanted his help. So maybe they were finally seeing that he was up to the task?]

It's okay. I remember being stressed out from the cold. It's really not fair that you guys still have to deal with that.

[Copies or not, that's just cruel.

Flynn has no any motivation to leave this town but he figures if he were a copy that's what he would do? He preens openly at exceptional vines because yes, yes, they really are, aren't they! And it sounds like a fun challenge.]

I'm really good with locks. Didn't think about using the vines for it...

[When Flynn turns away, Sherlock flicks his gaze to John and then nods slightly to the left, indicating that he’ll take that direction and John the other so that they can keep a pincer movement to minimise the risk to them both if this devolves into a full on fight again.]

Good point, John, this really is the location that would mimic a greenhouse the best of all the buildings in this town. Imagine what you could grow here.

That's true. It's really warm, I like it.

[Flynn moves towards the office, but it's distracted, he's craning his neck a lot looking around, obviously imagining what this place would look like overgrown.]

So how did you find out about the keycard?

[You know, with the drawer being locked and everything. Maybe it's a good thing he's so distracted.]

[Sherlock motions with the tiniest flick of his fingers to the door, indicating that he'll brace it and John should stop up the gaps with anything he can find. His weight should be an advantage in keeping the door closed, and John's hands are more dexterous than his for quickly closing any gaps.

There's a moment when Flynn is just over the threshhold when time seems to freeze, before all of a sudden he's surging forwards to grab the door and slam it shut.]

Now, John!
