[ We're all ghosts.

Royce thinks about that, for a while. He thinks about how it'd make sense, really. With how he's come to understand technology, maybe they're just... experiencing glitches. None of this is real, except for them, except for how their minds react to everything. That's all.

Royce reaches to pick up Alfie's arm and wrap it around Royce's shoulders, leaning into him. He just nods against Alfie's chest. Yeah. ]

[devoutish]

[Arm still firmly around Royce, Alfie starts tapping out Morse code on his back. R. O. Y.

He hesitates, forgetting how to do C.]

[bywolves]

[ It's okay. Royce understands. He takes Alfie's free hand, and taps C gently against his palm, then E. Then - A. L. F. I. E. ]

[devoutish]

[He nods against Royce's head, chin ruffling his hair.

I. A. M. H. E. R. E.]

[bywolves]

[ Royce closes his eyes for now, curled up with Alfie. This is all he can do. Try to provide some sort of comfort the best he can. In a little bit he'll get up to brew tea or something for all of them, to try and soothe their throats. But for now, he just stays here.

[Here with you.

A little drop of wet falls down, hitting Royce's nose.]

[ Royce shifts, turning to look up at Alfie. Just like Alfie wiped the blood from his mouth, Royce reaches to brush away the tears with his thumb, exceedingly gentle. ]

[devoutish]

[He starts to talk out of habit, wanting to say that he's all right, but only the wet rasp comes out. So instead, he presses his forehead to Royce's, hoping that that conveys something even better: thank you. I love you.]

[bywolves]

[ Yeah, he gets it. With a little smile, he leans their foreheads together and stays where he is, eyes closed. They might be ghosts, but. They have this. For right now, they can both be okay with this. ]
