I don't, either. Why is residue in the machines alive enough while a vampire in his natural state is not?

You don't- I don't expect you to know, either. I'm frustrated and... a bit scared for us, despite my faith in us.

Thank you, but you've already done so much for us. Conserve your strength. I'll help you if I can, and I'm sure many of us feel the same way.

So says the person offering more help when she has so little energy she can't speak clearly.

[Melancholy teasing. Because while he believes in and hopes for the best he can't help but suspect the worst.]

Worrying too much is simply the way some of us are.

[Oh that's not good. He knows others have had messages like this but...he's not going to ask her to repeat herself.]

Save your strength. Please.

[why does this feel like the side of a deathbed so suddenly he's been at too many]

Don't be. Does staying on this message use your energy? I would like to provide company for you in what way I can, but not if it comes at cost to you.

[He hopes he's wrong - she isn't human, she shouldn't have to die too.]

It does? Then it would be better for you if I did not stay. I hope we're able to save you. If you can, give what aid you are able to those capable with technology, such as Angel or Rhys. If anyone will know how to use that information in your favor, it will be them.

[A deep breath. God, he doesn't want to go, but...he doesn't want to cause the death he wants to prevent.]

Thank you, so much, for all you have done for us, Winter. We owe you our lives.

[And to prevent further unnecessary energy consumption on his end, he'll hang up there. Good luck, Winter.]
