[ It takes several false starts before Wilson finally gets the message out. He's forgoing voice and video in favor of text. It's easier that way, if only marginally. He didn't need this to remind him that life here (if it can be called that) sucks, but it's been thrown into sharper relief now. ]

Hey, in case anyone wanted to know: House is dead.

An anomaly got him.

[ He's not really sugar-coating it, because how do you sugarcoat something like this? Even his best bedside manner and talent for knowing just how to deliver the worst news isn't really any use here. ]

I just thought you might want to know.

[ Maybe a more general "you", since he's quite aware of the public feeling House stirs up. But he said what he wanted to say, so that's that.

He figures he might as well try to say something else not related to House's demise, though, so he asks a question that he feels might be largely pointless in the long run: ]

Other than that, how are you all holding up?

[ Of course, he's certain the answer is "not well", but old habits die hard, and he still does genuinely want to check in with them. ]

[ Will had bothered speaking since House had died and he and Wilson had gotten to something resembling safety. He hadn't let himself think about it, until Wilson was safe and when the other man finally moved to let the population at large in on the news, Will wandered away.

He found a far corner of the structure they were sheltered within and settled down on the floor. Pack set beside him. He knew he'd need to get his shit together, orient himself and then work with Wilson to determine their next steps, but his mind was currently assaulting him with a parade of technicolor, worst case scenarios.

After all, Hannibal had died and not come back. House had hammered it into Will's head that people didn't always come back, and House just tipped double digits. Did he get some sort of prize for that? A temporary tattoo like you got out of a box of Cracker Jacks?

Reaching up with his hand, Will ground the heel of his palm into one eye, trying to rub the image out of his head. ]

[ Wilson had decided he needed some space, and he thought it was feasible that maybe Will wanted some space of his own. But eventually, they needed to figure out what to do next, because they couldn't very well wait around on the assumption that House would come back.

Personally, Wilson wanted the other man to come back for purely selfish reasons, but he wasn't sure if voicing those was the right thing to do right now. The right thing to do was to check in on Will, and to back off if he wanted to be left alone. ]

[ He cleared his throat quietly to announce himself. ]

[Having still only woken up from his own death a couple of days prior, Quark...has to watch himself. His impulse is to break something, but at least after that's done, he manages to limit his thoughts to something non-destructive for Wilson's sake.]
