It's gonna get worse. [So much for the comfort. House is trying to prepare her, at least. House steps away, out of her immediate personal space bubble and glances to the side, rather than looking directly at her.] You heard Miller. This time didn't work. Means he'll be trying something else. Don't eat anything they put out for us. The food was drugged in the tower.

[She nods, her voice small and uncertain. She's still feeling this out, and even if she was more confident it's not like either of them are in a particularly chatty environment.]

I heard him. And I'll stay away from the food--I'm betting none of us have much of an appetite right now.

[Ginger wants to say something else, but it takes a bit of silent searching for her to come up with something.]

How long do you think before the next experiment? If you had to make a guess.

I'm sure someone's hungry for something around here. [Hannibal had been abused, after all. House suspects Robert Miller is on the menu if the man ever gets ahold of him.]

I'm guessing we won't know. Hard to mark time down here. I think we only spent a night. But it could be more than a day at this point. It sounds like the people down here've been drugged to cut out their memories. That'll probably keep happening.

Right.

[Ginger sighs. She wants to think it'll get easier, when it's not the beginning, the threat of days and days looming over them. But it can't get better, because all that's ahead of them is more of this.]

And I can't imagine he'll get it right on the second try, either.

[It's never that simple.]

Well, it's a difficult case when you've got the red lines. Personally I'd try broad spectrum antibiotics before going for the specialized stuff, but that's just me. I like to play it safe. [Have a little medical humor and sarcasm, Ginger.]

He won't get it right the second time. Probably not the third time, either. Admin was already looking for the missing people, though. Chances are, she'll locate us before we get for the fourth or fifth.

[The medical humor absolutely goes over her head, but she can tell he's trying, so she gives a small smile. It doesn't stay for very long.]

Silver linings, right?

[She cringes thinking about what the second and third failed attempt would look like for their physical and emotional wellbeing, but surpresses the accompanying despair.]

Fingers crossed that she's on her A game.

Fingers and toes. [House stands there, looking at her, feeling awkward. He doesn't do support or feelings very well, not least with people like Ginger.] I'll let you get back to... whatever. Maybe don't stay in your cell. Take the freedom while you can get it.

Yeah, I will.

[She realizes she's one of the lucky ones who didn't sustain a particularly nasty leg or foot injury. Yet another silver linings. With a nod, Ginger frees him from his gesture of goodwill.]
