Several people have tried. It doesn't go well. You can't stay in one place too long, and it takes a full day to walk a dozen miles or so in this weather. People get killed by anomalies every couple of days. Some of them wake up again on the other side of town, some of them we never see again. Food is scarce, useful supplies scarcer.

Even if it was possible to keep a system organized under those conditions, most of the people who ended up here refuse to accept any kind of authority.

Any kind. You couldn't set up a fricken' phone tree in this place.

[That sounds highly inefficient and anarchic but he refrains from commenting for once.]

So it's, comment on dit, ah... the survival of the fit? [Almost.]

Do you work together at all?

[ YOU DON'T FRICKEN SAY. ]

Uh... depends how you define "work together"? Stuff gets accomplished, at least.

Accomplished how? If nobody listens to anyone?

[Dubious.] I'm a little lost in translation there, I think.

A handful of people will work together to, say, poke around the high school. If they find anything really interesting they’ll probably mention it on the network. Beyond that sort of thing, though, communication is pretty minimal.

Great.

[Stuck with a bunch of crazies who don't even work together. Why can't he have a trip about hanging out on a beach naked and the sky is a kaleidoscope like some weird 60s psychedelic song?

Noo, he gets the snow asylum. Typical.]

Sounds very efficient. Should be out here in no time.

I know, right? Really helps you sleep at night, knowing we’re probably not going to die here, eaten by a sleepy Eldritch Horror.

Like a trip to the spa.

So what are you working on? You know. Apart from being the, uh, master of the guides?

Right now? The high school. Apparently it’s all automated, and I qualified to enroll. We’re at a dead end for some unknown software, though.

What is it with high schools and computer problems?

Does it have one of those very old brick computers? Is the software not working?
spoileralert: (shrug)

[personal profile] spoileralert 2018-03-02 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's the tablets. The one's we're talking on. They've got minimal software, but we do sometimes find SD cards with new programs on them. Whatever software the high school's secret door wants me to have, I don't have it.

[Secret doors, too. Man, this place has it all.]

So everybody is searching for the SD card with the program?
spoileralert: (unsure?)

[personal profile] spoileralert 2018-03-03 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people are. I don't know what everybody is up to anymore. [ She sighs wistfully. ] I used to, but they've all gotten so good about not talking on the network about their plans.

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-03-07 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hmm.]

I will keep my eyes open. Any ideas where it could be?

Nada. We tried the chapel over here and computer lab at the school. SD cards are all over the place, though, and it's not necessarily close.
