[As with House's text, David brightens ever so slightly when he gets to switch into his first language.]

Ah well, I just have to try harder next time.

Do you think that's good or bad?

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-10 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends upon what you're asking about.

Do I think it's good or bad that we can't vote anyone off? Guess that would depend upon what happened to them when they got voted out. Actually return home, or just a death and storage.

If you mean it's good or bad that you'll have to try harder next time? Well, it's always good to have goals I suppose?

Point. At least it takes away all the drama and intrigues surrounding the elimination process.

Doesn't seem to stop people from making factions though.

[There's something keen in his gaze when he says it. His fucking around wasn't meant to be an investigation and Bouchard is still so very far from taking any of this seriously but he can't help but notice all the little hints here and there; people getting defensive over certain names, nominating others, telling him he should put other names on the list instead.]

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-10 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
The current faction climate is incredibly unfortunate and woefully short sighted.

[ Wry to the point of 'done with it' tone is wry ... and done with it. ]

[He snorts at the tone. That bad, is it.]

Care to give me a rundown? I have already heard of the cat clan.

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-10 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I don't pay that close attention. [ Which was partially true. ] My approach is to avoid pretty much everyone and it works fairly well.

[ It also helped that he traveled with someone who was almost universally hated for one reason or another. But as was often the case, Will automatically remained cagey about anything to do with House.

It wasn't a secret, the man could just read back a little ways and put two and two together, but Will wasn't going to volunteer. ]

[Hmm.]

I guess that's one way to do it.

Didn't avoid me, though. Do you dig out your rusty French for all the newcomers or do I get to feel special now?

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-13 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Technically I'm just talking at you. I can 'hang-up' if the conversation gets tedious. Different from actually being around you. [ His tone is such to suggest that this is the way he approaches all people, so shouldn't take it personally. ]

You can feel however you want to feel. I tend to forget to private these conversations and people make eavesdropping into a spectator sport around here.

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-02-14 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Now you sound like my ex-wife. [His tone suggests no offense taken. If anything he's amused by it.]

So everybody's just hoping for next big secret to drop? There really isn't much to do around here, is there?

I've been called worse. [ Here in Norfinbury even. ]

Survival will take up a lot of your time. You'll want to study and try to memorize House's map, and plan your food needs accordingly.

But outside that? It can get pretty dull from lock-down to morning. Watching your fellow captives play out their dramas over the network can be better than TV.

So I've heard.

Maybe it was a compliment.

It is very entertaining. It a very bizarre and fucked up way but hey, strictly speaking that's the reality tv concept in a nutshell.

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-24 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Was it? [ In his experiences, the answer would be 'no'. ]

I'm afraid I will have to take your word for that. I don't watch TV as a rule. Actually I never bothered owning one until I got married and had one for my wife and her son.

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-02-28 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

'As a rule?' You one of those TV is just the degeneration of society kind of guys?

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-28 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
No. I'm just really anti-social.
jmencalisse: (13)

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-02-28 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that would do it.

Takes a special kind of anti-social to shy away from TV though. If the screen's too much how do you deal with the real world?

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-28 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Poorly.

[ Kinda walked into that one David. ]
jmencalisse: (11)

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-02-28 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, shit. He sure did.]

Anti-social AND a fucking smartass. That's a fun combo.

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-02-28 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ Will chuckled but then sounded sincere when he apologized in the next breath. ]

Apologies. But seriously, I don't think either of us want me going into that level of detail about my life.

I made my home as far away from people as possible, did my best to submerge myself in nature when and where I could, and I made a living out of thinking of ways to kill people.
jmencalisse: (07)

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-03-01 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, one of these is not like the other. Who submerges themselves in nature?

[But he's curious now.]

Writer?

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-03-01 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh, one of the big shots. That explains it.

David Bouchard, Sûreté du Québec.

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-03-02 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. I was never an agent, just a special investigator they trotted out when they had a particularly bad monster on the loose.

Pleasure to meet you, Bouchard. I'm Will Graham.
jmencalisse: (11)

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-03-02 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
Can see how that would make someone want to do the nature hermit thing after a while.

Likewise, Graham.

[personal profile] ex_this_ismydesign36 2018-03-02 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I was never the most sociable of people to begin with. [ He didn't want to make it appear that his job was the only reason for his hermit activities. ]

Unless you have some questions, I should probably let you go.
jmencalisse: (02)

[personal profile] jmencalisse 2018-03-02 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'm a little tied up with the whole spot the new guy thig but maybe I'll get back to you on that.
