It is not a failing of your ears.
[She gestures at her own mouth, then taps her own chest.]
It is a failing of my brain and mouth. Wave your hand? Like this. We can be friends with one another and I can pretend that I know what I am doing.
[She waves again.]

[And a big, bright smile as she picks up her tablet and walks around the room with it, showing her surroundings.]
Over here we have the desecrated furniture, and here is a hideous stain upon the floor. I wonder what hideous stains are in your room, hm?

[Wouldst thou presume to command a goddess, child -- yeah, alright, Tess starts moving again. One of the things the view briefly pans over is a big mail bag with a coat stuffed inside; as Tess goes by the bag moves and RGBV pokes his nose out of the coat's folds, big forked tongue tasting the air. Tess doesn't seem to pay him any mind by the way she keeps going past.]

You have a question?]
[She taps the screen a couple times, tilts her head this way and that.]

Ugh. I accept my fate.
[She finally turns the tablet to where the camera's pointed at RGBV. He still has only his head poking out of the bag, and lazily flicks his tongue out again.]

Bite?

[Lilly's face hovers somewhere between a scowl and a look of interest. She's still confused and a little annoyed at this woman's weird words and lack of ability to understand her even when she does speak - but at the same time, she's kind of digging the role reversal. She lifts a hand and pretends to chomp on her own finger, saying slowly and exaggeratedly:]
Buy-tuh.

[Tess grins, snapping her jaw to make her teeth click. She relearned a word! From...a child. Okay. At least she can see the humor in the situation. She pauses to think about it, glancing at RGBV. It's actually kind of a complicated question to answer.
...Except by going over and poking him in the snoot, pressing her wrist against the front of his mouth to illustrate that no, she's not afraid of him biting her. RGBV tolerates this sans biting, as expected, but looks as offended as a serpent can look as he turns and coils into the bag to hide his face, glimpses of feathers visible at the bag's opening as he moves around.]

Pay-puh. Cray'n.
[Pen, crayon, same thing - at least as far as she's concerned. Crayons are the only writing instruments she'd been familiar with up until now, so she's overgeneralizing.]

She nods seriously. Unfortunately, she won't be able to extrapolate pronunciation beyond what Lilly gives her.]
Pay-puh. Crain.

[She points to each body part in turn, and then - finally - scrambles up and ends up kicking the camera by accident, sending it spinning across the floor. In the upper lefthand corner of the screen, half of a written message is visible: EYA CRESCENT, EDWARD ELRIC, DAY THIRTY, TRAVELLING NORTH. Lilly appears sporadically, running around the room and pointing at things - "Waw! Flow! Couch!" - but she hasn't yet intuited what the tablet's camera can and can't pick up. She can still see it, so she assumes it can see her.]

Couch?
[She can't see what you're pointing at, kid.]
no subject
[She affirms, coming back into view as she peeks down at the tablet.]
Awwright?
no subject
Couch, awwright.
[She points at herself.]
